Pyro-fire is now mod of Misc, ums and mod assistance on trial basis. Let me know if you disagree with his moderating decisions.

I disagree with the fact that his first action was to remove his warns.

Let's look how he re-added them.

That doesn't counterbalance the fact that he removed it.
Report, edit, etc...Posted by DT_Battlekruser on 2006-12-31 at 04:23:12
Plus the removal was before this post, and the re-adding was after it. Making up for bad publicity perhaps.

Well I personally didn't find him very helpful with his answer when he replied in my thread in modding assistance (this was before he became a mod). He didn't read my post thoroughly, but still replied to something that was stated inside of the post. I don't think he's moderator material.

From what ive seen i dont think IP cares much of what anyones going to say. Pyro is not well known nor does he seem to have moderator qualities. I have nothing personaly against him but that is what is evident.

But when it's more... hmmm... "mature" criticism.

Pyro-Fire actually had lower post rank than me. And as far as I'm concerned, noone knows my who I am around here.

IP, why aren't you sattisfied with the people that were mods in those forums already?

Pyro + Red2Blue = Kenoli?

IP what about my criticism? It actually has a good reason tongue.gif.

CheatEnabled, I've seen you around, I kind of know who you are, I always recognize your two zerglings in the sun thing.

Pyro-Fire goes by the name of 2-hot-2-handle on SC or atleast she used to, and she always told me she was a... well... a she. How did she become a he blink.gif crazy.gif. I have no problem with he/ she being a moderator, it is afterall a trial basis, not yet a permenant move.

However if what they did say about the whole "publicity" thing is correct, then IP you could put the people to rest and say Pyro-Fire is on trial period for x amount of time, and will still be on trial basis after x amount of time, but not as closely monitored or not monitored at all. However if some sort of case comes up, remove him or her of his or her powers.

Pyro-Fire who? happy.gif Hey IP, next time you have a problem come to me, maybe I can solve it and get DLDB manager?
Report, edit, etc...Posted by Pyro-Fire on 2006-12-31 at 10:28:19
Hold on people, i have become a moderator through giving out information on an sql injection exploit on SEN, and not only that, i had requested to become a staff member for security on v5.

there arent many people who have decent skill in website security here.
or even a decent amount of experience for that matter.
Report, edit, etc...Posted by Centreri on 2006-12-31 at 10:59:51
So you become a 'Security Staff' or something, not a 'Moderator'. You should get a job based on what you're good at, not just because no one can think of any other position they could give to you. You're going to have to prove yourself : /.
Report, edit, etc...Posted by Pyro-Fire on 2006-12-31 at 11:03:39
prove myself? thats why im a moderator on a trial basis.
Report, edit, etc...Posted by Centreri on 2006-12-31 at 11:08:05
To earn respect. Being made a moderator at IP's whim doesn't make you an instantly respected moderator - most people were respected before they were made moderators. You're going to have to work harder than most.

I like how you said that Centreri.

I'll give you +1 Red2Blue special hug!

We need a reputation system. I think Red2Blue's hug counts tongue.gif.

First off: I'd like to say I have nothing against you personally Pyro-Fire, but I don't think you're cut out to be a moderator. Just my opinion.

Now, to back up my claims.

First off, let's look at the big picture. The modding forums are already moderated by Farty, Voy and EzDay, all capable modders and respected members of SEN. Besides that, not much moderation is required in these forums, as modding in itself seems to tend to attract a smaller crowd, and therefore is easier to handle.

The UMS Assistance forum is moderated by Red2Blue, a new moderator and respected mapper, Mini Moose, site Admin, Tuxedo-Templar, probably the most respected mapper I know of and a very knowledgeable member of SEN, PCFredZ, who I don't really know too well, but I've seen some of his work and I'd say he's fit for the job, and fritfrat(U), a very active member in that forum who has helped out countless people in the past. In my opinion, they're more than enough to delete the occasional comment and move the occasional thread.

The Misc. forum is moderated by DTBK, who has more than proven that he will not tolerate crap, CaptainWill, a very mature and capable member, MilleniumArmy, who, truth be told, I don't actually see very often, Rantent, a respected member capable of handling most if not all situations that have as of yet occurred and Doodan, who we all know is an excellent moderator, more than fit for the job.

So why do we even need more moderators in those particular places?

And now on to Pyro himself.

I see him often in the Modding Assistance forum, but he seems less knowledgeable in comparison to other members there, most of all our current moderators. As well, his post quality is not overly high.

Let's move over to UMS Assistance. After looking through every thread on the first page (30 threads on mine), I've seen Pyro-Fire once, where he was closing a thread, and he didn't even seem sure of himself. I really don't think that someone who doesn't post in UMS Assistance belongs as a Moderator there.

Finally, Misc. I, personally, don't believe I have seen him very often there. Looking at his profile, we see that his highest post count in any forum is 141 in Modding Assistance. This means that he has even less in Misc., whereas many members have more than their cumulative post count in Misc (for example Doodan has over 2000 posts in Misc, with not even 1000 cumulative posts). I really think that Pyro needs more experience in his forums before he can be set out to moderate them.

Next, he is not as active as some of our other members. He has 0.4 posts per day, and only claims 80 cumulative posts in his run, which started in May.

He also has a tendency to create not-so-helpful posts and topics.

Examples of such:
http://www.staredit.net/index.php?showtopic=36789&hl=
In this example, he has spammed the website feedback forum. Doodan states that he may be warned for it.

http://www.staredit.net/index.php?showtopi...ndpost&p=606541
In this example, not only has he failed to enclose LA's text into a quote box, but he has failed to read and comprehend what is being said. Failure to think before posting does not make a moderator.

Well, that's all the stuff I'm willing to dig up for you. If it sways your opinion or not, whatever.

Again, nothing personal against Pyro, I just don't think he's deserving.
Report, edit, etc...Posted by Centreri on 2006-12-31 at 12:43:52
I saw those topics before as well. Except for the security thing, Pyro is less deserving of being moderator than many other people who actively post in the forums. And if you're doing this as a favor for him helping, create a new position - 'Security Staff', as I mentioned before.
Report, edit, etc...Posted by Red2Blue on 2006-12-31 at 13:03:42
Hm... you all give good points, but SEN's v4 coding was "shotty" to say the least, finding a breakthrough in protection definitely deserves a merit, but not a position that he has not yet qualified himself for.

P.S:
I give +1 Red2Blue special hug for Killer_Kow(MM). That was a very well described modlist you have there, it shows how active you are in this SEN community and how you  carefully observe our current mods. Great job.

And don't get me wrong, these Red2Blue Special Hugs aren't easy to get.

My mainproblemwith him is his grammar. Sometimes it's hard to understand, and there's no reason he can't type correctly like the rest of us.
