The way I see, no deadline=no rush. No rush=good map.

QUOTE(WoodenFire @ Jun 30 2006, 02:28 PM)
Well, the map is going to be very storyline driven, and having all three players will help with the interaction and MagicFind aspects, which in the case of Diablo games was one of the most addictive areas of gameplay was killing champions and bosstype enemys for better drops... Three people will find weapons to equip eachother with and thus giving items to eachother will add an entirely new aspect to Crescent Dyne...

Now, if we find a good "Ghosting" type system which when storyline comes up, the other two or one heroes (if your playing 2 player) show up as they are talking with people, then I will gladly allow 1-3 players like I originally intended...

However, I will thus have to tone down single/double player modes as far as sidequests go because some of which require splitting up, finding dungeons that only your aloud in alone, and simultaniously going in front of the doors to open your access to them... Much more things require the different players so making it 1-3 players will make for much more trigger work.

If you haven't noticed, its the due date today. June 30th. Crescent Dyne is not complete or nearing completion at this time. So without more fuss of the peanutgallery, I am postponing the duedate indefinitely for the time being.

The storyline is being writen, the music is being composed, terrain is almost fully complete, and trigger systems are almost fully complete. Storyline and cinematic events, spells, ect are left to be done.

None of you can complain at this for the progress we have made thus far and are still making every day.

ah well nothin wrong with changin the date slightly ... but considering everyone has been eating themselves in hunger and thirst staring mindlessly at the computer screen waiting for that magic word
IT FINISHED

but hope everything works out for ya
Report, edit, etc...Posted by dumbducky on 2006-07-05 at 20:03:05
That's a huge overstatement. The hype isn't so big that everyone instantly logs on to sen to see how the progress is on CD.

BTW, "IT FINISHED" is multiple words.

July 2008, CD is released tongue.gif

Jun 2008 - Blizzard announces that they are pulling the plug for SC support in B.net.
Jul 2008 - Wooden rushes forward with CD in a last ditch attempt to spread a map to a tiny population.
August 8, 2008 - CD is released, slightly buggy two minutes into the game.
August 9, 2008 - StarCraft for Battle.net is disconnected globally. With no way for an updated map to be released, hundreds go with only two minutes of game time. Dozens of hours of gameplay are lost to time, and Wooden retreats to Tatooine, to become a hermit.

Jun 2008... After blizzard pulls out the plug for bnet support support... a guy who went by the name of "DC_Rocket859" jumped off the roof of the building... breaking his back and killing him... ironically... blizzard puts back bnet support into sc two minutes later..

july 06 you all proved how much of a worthless life you hve posting stupid posts blink.gif
Report, edit, etc...Posted by Tdnfthe1 on 2006-07-07 at 00:01:33
No offense... no actually I don't care if you're offended. Anyone anticipating this map for a year needs to know it isn't worth it, real games with their own graphics take this long minimumly to make. Basically with all the posting we've seen all anyone can conclude to is that you thought up alot of ideas and how to execute them. Which is mostly what all rpg map makers do, I don't have a big doubt that you'll finish... but the fact that you took this long to do any map(no matter how great) isn't worth the wait.

For the players who maybe have been waiting or anticipating for maybe 4 or 5 months, waiting double that time isn't so bad. There'll be other maps to play as you wait.
Oh yeah, I woulda stayed outta your thread if I didn't check it and see some guy repeatedly posting about "STOP ASKING ABOUT THE RELEASE DATE" because... well wtf the release date of a demo or actual map is all people have to go off of.
Otherwise it's just... nothing.
My question isn't where's the map, it's why did you do all this work for setting up crap instead of making scratch work or progress on the map?

May 2009: Wooden fire releases the release date; June 2009 more anticipation.

June 2009: Wooden fire takes longer postpones the map yet again.

Jun 2011 - Blizzard announces that they are pulling the plug for SC support in B.net.

(Not really, but I would still buy it)

"Postponed indefinitely" is synonymous with "canceled".

O:

It isn't canceled. Major progress is made each day, terrain is reaching its one year point while triggers is only approaching the 2-3 month mark. So technically, you haven't been waiting that long...

I am not really liking all the jokes about how long it is taking to create this map, but I can't really say much seeing that very few of you create maps.

Uhm wait. Did you just say what i think you said? We dont create maps? Excuse me? We create maps but we dont make lots of godly rpg maps like yours, which almost 3/10 people could do with how much time you put into your maps. We create maps, just not rpg's like yours are let out every day wooden. Or ever so far. So next time you really want to partially insult us, Say somthing you think about.
