"You looked like an idiot" != "You are an idiot". To appear != To be.
Report, edit, etc...Posted by OvErRuN on 2005-10-11 at 22:33:33
This reminds me of a government, secrecy, revealed, explanations...debates.

Mini, you took the words from my mouth.
Report, edit, etc...Posted by Centreri on 2005-10-12 at 16:12:28
Exactly.
QUOTE
When did I say anything about your intelligence? I said you looked like an idiot when you basically said people look like idiots spelling things wrong and then using 'u' instead of 'you' in that same thread also acknowledging that you say it.

QUOTE
I'm not saying you are an idiot, it's not my place to judge. But do you realize that, while you're making a good point, you're also looking like an idiot yourself using u in place of you.

'I'm not saying you are an idiot, it's not my place to judge.'

Which means-
'I think you are an idiot, but i dont want to say it bluntly'
Or something close in any case.

Dictionary.com definition of the word 'idiot'

1)A foolish or stupid person.
2)A person of profound mental retardation having a mental age below three years and generally being unable to learn connected speech or guard against common dangers. The term belongs to a classification system no longer in use and is now considered offensive.

I think thats an insult to intelligence. Dont you, now that the word definition is right here?

Back on what i said-
I said its ok to have tons of mistakes, even though it often results in lessened respect.
I also said that slang such as u-you and those are ok to say because even though its easily fixed its commonly seen on the computer and its easily understood.
You apparently didnt notice the part
QUOTE
Seriously, why do people write you instead of u?

First of all, i addressed the problem, which is writing you/u.
I said that I use it in the post, which should eliminate any other remarks, since any person who read this with a miniscule part of a brain should notice that I recognise this problem and wrote it on purpose to better express my point of 'u vrs you'.

Seriously chuos, I respect you and all, but you cant call me an idiot because I wrote something like that.

Report, edit, etc...Posted by MapUnprotector on 2005-10-12 at 16:46:16
How about you just stop arguing with Chu no matter how you think he's "wrong". You aren't benefitting from this and only making yourself look worse.

And there's nothing wrong with being an idiot, you're just part of the majority. I respect people that can call themselves an idiot. Hey, I'm an idiot, and I admit it. smile.gif
Report, edit, etc...Posted by chuiu on 2005-10-12 at 16:47:07
And I'm not. If I wanted to call you an idiot, I would. Now stop putting words in my mouth and respect the fact that I say what I mean and mean what I say.
Report, edit, etc...Posted by Deathawk on 2005-10-12 at 17:03:50
Why would you admit you're an idiot? Read the definition, I wouldn't want to be that.
Anyway, I don't he's making himself look worse either.
Report, edit, etc...Posted by Urmom(U) on 2005-10-12 at 17:06:38
hmm, i never realised that MindArchon has been here for so long. Is it just regulars being let in or is it for everybody that qualifies?

Taking it literally means you should call yourself an idiot. And yes, arguing with a mod especially about something incredibly stupid that no one needs to see in a topic should make people think less of him.

However, I can't speak for the majority of SEN.
Report, edit, etc...Posted by Centreri on 2005-10-12 at 17:19:44
I know what im doing is extremely stupid, but you dont exactly care about what he says because ure not as prideful as me.

I see this is going to be interesting.

And im arguing that what you mean isnt accurate because it puts me in an unpleasant light and i see what u mean as false.

Report, edit, etc...Posted by chuiu on 2005-10-12 at 17:23:54
You know what, I just realized I don't even care if you think I called you an idiot or not. Believe what you want.

Very well.
This is getting tedious.
Back to the discussion about the HT forum, ppl!

And thank you for ending this conversation.

The HT is a good idea on paper, but is the proof in the pudding that'll it work in the 3D world?

I havn't looked at this topic for quite a while. Apparently I didn't miss much.

I wasn't really aware that there was more to discussion then the principles of having one in the first place.

Ya, that's what you were discussing, but warhamma wasn't really talking much about the principles of having an HT forum, he was just being a grammer natzi.
Report, edit, etc...Posted by Mini Moose 2707 on 2005-10-13 at 15:28:52
Then suddenly it hits you: That's the stype of stuff that won't have to be read in the HT forum.
Report, edit, etc...Posted by Centreri on 2005-10-13 at 16:46:15
Now i understand. D:
Maybe its true moose, but i wont back down from what I said before.
You should invite
1)Only those members that were part of the early SEN
2)Only members that are both active and are respectable.
3)No one
4)Everyone.

3rd and 4th are pointless, so to make it fair I would go with 1st or 2nd...
Report, edit, etc...Posted by MapUnprotector on 2005-10-13 at 17:03:13
Hmm, how about you give everyone a chance to view the forum and post in it, but make the rules much more strict, and like for a first time offense you kick them off the forum smile.gif
Report, edit, etc...Posted by Urmom(U) on 2005-10-13 at 17:13:24
That would be a bad idea, trust me. The forum would end up like this thread did.
Report, edit, etc...Posted by MapUnprotector on 2005-10-13 at 17:14:24
How come? Just give everyone one chance, and if they screw up just take away their ability to view the forum.

Only problem I see would be there would be a lot of work required to manage the forum and remove users.

But then, how about you limit it to regulars. Give all regulars a chance to view the forum, and if they do something wrong or show they aren't worthy of viewing it remove them.
Report, edit, etc...Posted by Centreri on 2005-10-13 at 17:49:33
Im against that one.
Regulars implies u posted a lot of stuff in forums with 'minerals' in them.

That would exclude lots of civilized people.

Like me biggrin.gif

Well, this is a StarCraft Map Making Site so it would make more sense. It's also the reason why a lot of people are regulars, they make maps and reply in those forums, they don't post much in null and stuff.
Report, edit, etc...Posted by MapUnprotector on 2005-10-13 at 19:56:35
It only excludes civilized people who haven't been here long enough to get up to regular status.

And even if there are bad regulars who don't deserve to be in the forum, they would quickly be removed according to my suggestion.

I realized that a long time ago. Those are legit reasons, but there are better ways of dealing with that then what your chosing.

That is actually what I was just about to suggest.
However after I thought about that it occurred to me that it would generate even larger amounts of adversity, and mods having to deal with people saying "OMG Y U BAN ME FROM THAT FORUM, I DIDN'T DO ANYTHING WRONG, Y U SO STUPID".

I actually don't think that that is the main reason that the HT forum was created, I think the main reason is that older members were looking for a more intimate environment, where older members can chit chat and bounce ideas off of long time friends. But that's already been said.

I'm still trying to think of a way that would be fair and just to all, and I was hoping that this topic would be a place for people to brainstorm with me (which is happening now, but wasn't before). Urmom's idea definitely doesn't work, because it would lead to large amounts of spam, and Devilek's idea has already been discussed.
