It can be as big as you want, just post it here on SEN, if its considerably good, they might let u get away with a larger than 5mb file.

EDIT: Anyways, if you want an in-depth rpg thats more than 1 player, look at faith and destiny, one of my favorite rpgs. Way too long for a pub game with strangers.

make it Single player as much as id rathre 2 player... Im here to play this map for the storyline... 2 player i believe would ruin that fact..
(Size or not a issue... who cares 3 meg.. 5 meg... 15meg... make it to the best u can size is not a factor in my books tongue.gif )

Really? Because i'm here to play a fun map, possibly with a friend. If it has a good storyline its an added bonus, but i believe good gameplay, and fun gameplay, is a lot more important than a storyline. Maps with no storyline can be really good, however they are multiplayer. but if you want ur map to be the best, it should be fun, good storyline, at least 2 players, and good terrain.

The terrain will be good, I can assure you that.

But, as of now, the map will remain 1 player. But, who knows. I might make it 2 players. But, we'll see as time goes on.

Thanks for the compliment Trigga.

I will try and have a demo released soon. But, I am taking a lot of time on this map. I want the terrain to reflect the visions in my head. As in, I want the terrain to really make you feel as if you are in old villages in the mountains. I have a few more screenies I am thinking about posting. But, as of now I am just getting the very basics down.

-Engine
-Items
-Interactive Shops
-Lot's of terraining
Etc...

I guess I should make an update on the first page... blushing.gif

I agree, if you're going to make more than one player, you'd have to go with a minimum of 3. 2 is just a really picky number and the map won't really have as much appeal. In my opinion, do 1 player or 3 player, either way people won't mind the file size with that many people.

Eh, don't u ever play good/long rpgs with a friend? More than 1 friend is a hassle, since both have to be on.

Well, you kind of give me an idea Tdnfthe1. If I made it 3 players it could add a twist to the game. And definitley add replayablility. Because, there is a HUGE twist in the plot. And if I have a human do that instead of a computer, it could kind of change the outcome of the map. Well, I am really considering this. So, I guess all I have to say is keep in touch and everyone will soon find out.

You kind of lost me on this... But, I know what you mean by it. I'll tell you why this map is so deep and what not. There is a few things in here that reflect me. But, I don't really want anyone to know yet. But, I'll shut up now.

Well, I finally updated the front page again. It has been quite awhile.

Nut, I can assure you, I have been working most of the time since the last update. As of now, I am still... Working on terrain. But, I am really liking the way the map is headed terrain wise.

But, I have hit some what of a bump. I am having a hard time with items. The map is based some time in the medieval genre, so if anyone would like to help me that would be great. Thanks for your time.

Items that heal. Give bonuses. All those sorts of things. You know, like the extra items and what not.

Yea, thats a good idea. When i was working on my RPG before I stopped production for a little while qpirateking gave me advice to stick to themes instead of ramdomly picking names and it helped me naming a lot of stuff.

Anyways, I feel kind of bad, but, I'll just say it... I am copying qPirateKing's console set up. As in, the same way he did in Deep Blue. But, the only reason I am copying it, is because it is going to save me a lot of trouble. I could care less if one part of my map isn't Unique. I'm not to stressed out about what people think of the shops. I am doing it this way because it will save me:

1. Locations
2. Units
3. Time

Those 3 reasons are good enough for me to copy someone else's idea. If you have any problems with this. Save 'em. I don't care! bleh.gif

What do you mean?

Like me record my voice (or other people's) into the map? I would love to do that. But, I'm afraid the file size would be the size of a house! Literally. But, I could do something of that sort for the demo/trailer. Which, when I do release the demo/trailer, you'll HAVE to watch it just so you know how to play and know what;s going on. Just because I don't have room to do it in the actual map. I am worried I'll run out of:

-Strings
-Locations
-File Size

The reason I say File Size is:
-I have dial up, so it takes weeks for me to upload and download anything.
-SEN doesn't host maps with a big file size.

So, on that note, I'll be releasing the trailer wrapped up in the demo. That way, you can get a glimpse of the story as well as the gameplay. My plan is too release it a week or so before I release the map itself. That way, I don't build up false hope. You know, how people make trailers but never actually finish the map!? **Cough Cough**A & O**Cough Cough**

Well, it's time I give you a little more information on my battle system.


As of now, I am expermienting with Computer AI's. I may have an enemy force added into the map that will be "against" everyone. Like, an elite force. In order to be on there side, you have to do a couple of side quests to have them on your team. Yadda...yadda yadda... That's besides the point.

What I am saying is, for the units that you fight in a Real Time will be harder to fight. As in, I am going to try and make them smart. You know, have some sort of a strategy. But, if I can't do that, I'll just make their HP higher. For the Turn Based aspect, I will reveal that later on.


I am looking for music. So, if you have any suggestions or know of any sites, that would of great help. And I would really appreciate it! Thanks.

As far as the music goes, I am looking for something that loops good. But, I want it too be something a little slow paced. Something that makes you really feel as if you're immersed into the map. If that doesn't makes any sense, I can see why! bleh.gif

I would say the best example would be something like the music in LoH. Too me, the music really fit the theme of the map. But, I don't want the music that "fast" something a little more mellow.


And, I was wondering if anyone has any idea's on how to make the computer units "fight better"? If you have any ideas... TELL ME!
