Either way I'll be happy..

I don't get why you guys think the graphics are going to be bad... It beats 256 colors on a 640x480 screen..

Ok Shmidley you can play a game with 2 races when mine has 5+ races and we see who has more fun. If you really think they are the same races you should play WC3 some more.

Number of races has nothing to do with the amount of fun...

StarCraft, Rise of Legends, Command and Conquer: Red Alert and many more have 2 or 3 races and yet are phenomenal sucesses, and more importantly: fun.

As long as this unnanouced game comes out sometime within our lifetimes, preferably 06/07, then I will be happy. If it is SC2, Hooray! If it isn't, boo on them.

That's how I feel. So, what are the chances this is SC2?
Report, edit, etc...Posted by Voyager7456(MM) on 2006-08-03 at 18:39:23
As I see it:

Most likely: SC2. They obviously know that a sequel would draw in tons of money.
Possible: New franchise. Who knows?
Least likely: WC4. With WC3 released a few years ago, and a lot of the WC fanbase flocking to WoW, why would they release another game?

I don't know. How profitable is SC2? Would old fans who no longer play it rush back? Those who bought it initially are 8 years older now. So the 13 year-olds are now 21. Can they count on a new generation to play SC?
Report, edit, etc...Posted by Voyager7456(MM) on 2006-08-03 at 20:16:49
With SC being widely considered one of the best, if not the best RTS games ever, I'd say that they could count on a large enough audience. Especially in Korea.

Not to mention they have instant publicity. Every video game magazine, TV show and website would be begging for a story.

Let it be Diablo 3 (yeah I know that no RTS). But I read they're working on it in a shortnews of a game magazine around a year and a half ago. In 3d ohmy.gif

SC2! SC2! SC2!

In case you can't tell, I really want it to be Starcraft 2. For one thing, I want to see how the story ends, and for another, Hybrids are just that awesome. For a third thing--Hey, Voy, how long would you give them before we find a way to mod it? wink.gif

Super smash bros brawl is heard to come out after christmas. Release games are super Mario galaxy, Warioware: smooth moves, Wii sports, Metroid prime, Zelda and I think thats it or there might be one more.

1) StarCraft is extremely easy to mod.
2) Almost all new games are designed so that modding is absurdly easy.
3) WC3 you don't even need to mod because the editor has all that functionality.

SC2 will be "moddable" right out of the box. Unless they take a while to release art tools like they did with WC3.

As some of you know theres another FF7 game coming out, I know most of you are probably rolling your eyes right about now but I assure you this game wont really feel like a RPG to follow on the title of "Final Fantasy". In fact this is a third person shooter.

Gamespot trailer and screen shots

And here is official website

Unfortunately, Mario will not be there on launch. Nintendo had said it will be out within six months of the launch, so that means no launch release. Which is okay with me, because it's going to tkae me some time to save up.

I found some information concerning if there is an upcoming new starcraft.

QUOTE
Looking for programmers experienced in StarCraft
Blizzard.com has job advertisements looking for a "Game Balance Designer" with experience in StarCraft and Warcraft 3 (this could mean that Blizzard is working on another RTS though).

On August 2, Blizzard began looking for "Level Designers" with "experience building levels using any popular 3D Real-Time Strategy game toolset." Such toolsets were used in Warcraft III, and it has been speculated that a Warcraft 3-D engine would be used for Starcraft 2. Blizzard has said that the job is for work on a RTS, but has not said what the RTS is.

But blizzard is hiring though.

QUOTE
6 February 2002, Bill Roper in an interview with InsideMacGames.com:
"I promise Blizzard Entertainment will make StarCraft II at a later time."

And he should know cause he does the voices for most of blizzard game units.

QUOTE
On the site for the former game (indefinitely postponed) StarCraft: Ghost's FAQ:

Q: Will there be a StarCraft II? When?
A: Although we have not made any announcements and do not have a development or release timeline, we do fully intend to revisit the world of StarCraft on PC at some point in the future

QUOTE
Actions seen by fans as indicating possible work on a StarCraft sequel - as well as the more obvious pointers above - including a hidden mission in StarCraft: Brood War, the lack of other projects for Blizzard after World of Warcraft's completion, an Easter egg unlocked after completing Warcraft III on the most difficult setting , as well as a leak about a 2007 release from HanbitSoft, the Korean publisher of StarCraft.
