I can't really tell when the map will be done, I really don't know. But once the terrain is completed, it should only take around 2-3 weeks to do all the triggers and get beta testing in place.

For the terrain, I'd say about 65%. All we have left is the Sewers, Train Graveyard, and the Shinra HQ. But the Shinra HQ is basically gonna be the remainder of the empty section you saw in the minimap picture.

Welp, Hash added another little section into the map and now the error has returned sad.gif ...

I know there's gotta be away around this problem and I ask anyone that knows if they can seriously help us out, PM me if you have to... I'm starting to run out of ideas, and I'd hate to have to cut the map off short from where we are...

Actually we decided to scrap the back way in, and just make the front way in, makes things a lot easier.

Ok well... I'm afraid we're gonna have to split Part 1 into a & b. (Imagine that, splitting a part into more parts)

So here's an analysis of what each part of part 1 will consist of:

Part 1a: From the beginning till the end of Wall Market.

Part 1b: From the beginning of the sewers till the end of Midgar (Motor Ball Fight).

In a way this is a good thing, because now hash can elaborate more on the Shinra HQ instead of squeezing it in and hoping it looks somewhat decent. But it's bad because now we have a huge gaping empty space in the map pinch.gif

Questions? Comments? I wanna know what you guys think...

Oooo Im gonna say all of the good things:

Shrina HQ will be much larger and may have a back way (Depending if hash and Killer decide to do it)

1a has a censored.gif load of left over space so I mentioned to killer that there could be multipul battle fields smile.gif

Shrina HQ is better plus the Motorcycle scene will be the fer'shizzle. And maybe when they swing from that rope and the tower attack. Maybe it will be shown o_O. Still up to killer and hash smile.gif

I love the idea. Even though I pushed you to doing it.... biggrin.gif

You should also give tip during briefing or during game. If your having cutscenes or anything should tell people save after boss fights or something. So people dont have restart if die. So can come back to save game n go on ^_^ i hate restarting when did so good.

I plan on putting little markers around the map that will serve as good points to stop and save, or heal/switch character and such.

So even if it was unprotected it would take them a while to find all the parts that say:

Not only that, I'm not even naming my locations, switches or death counts just to save up strings for the dialog part. I have recorded all the info into a text file to let me know what is what... Yeah it may be more difficult, but its the best way to save strings. And if someone hacked into this and tried to change it, they would have the most difficult time imagineable.

I'm going to estimate around 1200 triggers, but who knows? Could be more, could be less, either way there's going to be a ton.

lol good idea with the locations. So is it gonna be like you name the lcoations for the map progression or you are just not making location names ever?

Your gonna have a big text file if your doing that. tongue.gif thats alot of work.

Well Killer is well into the triggerwork on the map. It is actually somewhat playable already. Meanwhile I have started up on the terrain for the second map that will wrap up the Midgar journey part of the game.

When people steal map its more of a find/replace thing, they dont go through all the triggers changeing all the text. They change all of <your name> to <their name> very easly. (not very easly, but still) Not nameing locations and switches will save stings but i dont think it will do much about stealing.
