For the polls, you can edit the polls in the current system I believe... We wouldn't be taking a step down in any features unless they are unnecessary or something.

Beer, I don't think that's possible. You can't just start opening connections to people's programs using php. I'm sure some type of client side plugin or program would have to be running.

Farty: Yoshi is already making it so users can't open up admin-locked topics.

Okay, Once again, Another IDEA, By Puni...

If a signature is over the SEN requirement's, Then The signature, Should be able to manually remove its self...

If that is impossible... Wich I don't think it is because of IP'S skills...

But just incase it is... If the signature is oversize, The background of the whol signature should turn a bright yellow, Or a different color, That only Moderators/Admin's can see... From there the Moderator/Admin, Can just remove it manually.

How about if the Sig is oversized, spam the entire screen the words "Signature Size too Large" because right now nobody pays attention the the words "OVER OVER" and the pixel size requirement.
Report, edit, etc...Posted by Puni(F) on 2005-04-15 at 01:06:36
Exactly, And you can only see it in the signature editing page...

Idea again:

When ever a File is approved into the DLDB, Right under the picture of the map, There should be a spot where it sais:

Approver: Blah blah...

That way if anyone has any problem on who approved the map, It could be easily figured out...

Also it will keep those DLDB keepers on there toes, If they want to keep there job.

Planned. But only admins and DLDB keepers can see this feild.

I'm not making, its already done. You cannot unlock a topic if its been locked by someone with higher premissions, and you nor can lock again if someone with higher premissions unlocked (incanse you feel like locking a topic when it shouldn't be, we would unlock it and it'd be tough luck for you)

I haven't noticed many people ignoring OVER. Usually when they do that, they're ignoring the rules on purpose.

No worries. If IE7 becomes more CSS compatible, we'll make it so bigger signatures are cut off.

Meh, it would be nice to have that what this person is hearing but oh well.

For now just do this for signatures. If it' too big then make it so it won't be shown in the forums and when they click Update Signature or Edit and it's too big, don't give them a preview of their current signature. At top give them a message saying that their signature won't be activated until you resize it. Then you give him a preview showing them what areas need to be cut off, maybe highlighting everything which is over the limit would be suitable.

I was going to make another post on how I can't detect dynamic height on html elements... but by doing a little research, I found out I could. However, I'm not sure how cross-browser friendly it is. Well, IE mostly. A site said MSN kept changing how the property was handled...

[codebox]<script language="JavaScript">
<!--
document.body.style.scrollbarBaseColor='#color'
document.body.style.scrollbarArrowColor='#color'
document.body.style.scrollbarDarkShadowColor='#color'
document.body.style.scrollbarFaceColor='#color'
document.body.style.scrollbarHighlightColor='#color'
document.body.style.scrollbarShadowColor='#color'

I got a suggestion that I thought would be pretty cool. In threads, mods can appoint certain people to do mod-like activity(but only in the one thread they were appointed to).

In all respect, that is a stupid idea.
Report, edit, etc...Posted by Puni(F) on 2005-04-16 at 11:01:13
Lol Isolated happy.gif.

You can customize your scroolbar manually, So no matter what color you make it, It will always be the color you set it as.

Thats actually extremely pimp. I just tried it now. It doesn't actually stop someone from submitting a form remotely, but people who usually use the signature to spam don't know about remote script stuff. Plus, if that were to happen, we could just bring the punishment for an oversized signature way up, maybe even to deletion if the member is too new, since there is no real way to make your signature too big without doing it extremely on purpose.

I say, to test remote browser compatibility, we should have it run on a seperate page for everyone to test?

Damn, I'm going to need to learn some of this javascript stuff if I'm going to be making scripts...
Report, edit, etc...Posted by Puni(F) on 2005-04-16 at 11:20:12
If there to new, They should just get a warning, If there a old member at SEN, They should get a deletion since they already know all of the rules, And know what they have to do.
Report, edit, etc...Posted by Yoshi da Sniper on 2005-04-16 at 12:29:56
You don't understand. You wont be able to submit a signature that is over using that form. You'd have to go through great lengths to skip that check.

or have i already done it? have i fooled you all? (DUN DUN DUN!) The answer is! no. i havent. im WAY to godam lazy to reconect like 5 times... and make 5 accounts.. my god that would take like.. half an hour!!
Report, edit, etc...Posted by IsolatedPurity on 2005-04-16 at 13:03:10
Except isp's generally have a range of addresses they can use for their users, such as, 165.201.45.* to 165.201.49.* or something similiar, so, if we wanted to check if you were using multiple accounts, we would just do a search for 165.201.*... perhaps trace the ip and see if it goes to the same domain and etc...
People who feel the need to make multiple accounts are usually doing it to do something wrong purposely, hoping that, their main account would be safe from any bans and etc.
Generally, once we find out tha some member wants to get banned, we do a check on his account for other accounts. So as long as your two accounts don't bring attention to themselves, yes, we probably wouldn't find out (and that doesn't make it right at all).
Report, edit, etc...Posted by www.com.au on 2005-04-16 at 13:07:41
Items - You probably wouldnt do it until later, but you could make it that you could by like a virtual couch or tv with minerals, and there could be rare items, and you could trade...

Sound - Erm sound effects for pressing buttons.. (just in case) i know you dont do it i know youre not even thinking about it, but just to be safe.. there unnessecary and a waste of space... pinch.gif

Skins - A choice of 3 - 2 skins?? maybe users could submit skins??
Report, edit, etc...Posted by IsolatedPurity on 2005-04-16 at 13:13:44
Sound - no, never.
Items - the fact that we are doing that after the launch means we aren't even thinking too much of it.
Skin - I plan on doing a white backgroundish skin you can select. If a user could make a sexy skin, I wouldn't mind adding it to the choice options. Skins might not be available to IE users.
Report, edit, etc...Posted by O)FaRTy1billion on 2005-04-16 at 14:01:57
I've seen sites that have skins, and you can change them, and it does do stuff...

Depends on how you do the skin and we (IE users) could probably see it.
Report, edit, etc...Posted by IsolatedPurity on 2005-04-16 at 14:05:31
The thing about IE users is, I wouldn't feel like making a new skin and then having to make another skin just for IE users and program additional functionality for them. I'm already doing that once for the main skin, I wouldn't want to do that for secondary skins as well, as well as make new images for them and so forth. IE will practically have it's own skin as is.
Report, edit, etc...Posted by Puni(F) on 2005-04-16 at 15:19:12
Yep, That would just be a waste of time, And skills.. If they really want to see it, There just going to have to use Firfox... Until IP/Yoshi is very bored, And does it.
Report, edit, etc...Posted by Jordan on 2005-04-17 at 12:28:00
i got a suggestion,
maybe add like a thing u can put in ure signature and like its a list and you type in what the map name is, a preview and, the download. you would do all that at signature options. then once u would post and finish the post and send it. it would show ure sig with a link or something and it would bring u to the list of ure maps and they can dl them. that way a person dont have to find the maps and link em up in ure sig. it would make things ez

ex:
Enter Map List <--that would be a button

|¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯|<- a list shows up and itll tell u what i said above like where to put
| | the download and preview and stuff.
| |
[___________]

User -
Post post, post
¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯
My Map List <-signature

i think it would be easier if you made that. that way no one would have to look for it and stuff. also it would help people get the word out that their map is coming out soon and stuff. like if their is a map u are currently working on you could put None for download, or if you didnt have a screenshot put None.
Report, edit, etc...Posted by IsolatedPurity on 2005-04-17 at 13:23:59
Um... nothing's preventing you from doing that in your signature now (as regular text), but thanks for reminding me of something else interested.gif.

Probably make things harder but like starcraft couldn't we have to different currencys
eg Minerals and Gas

Gas could be won in the arcade or using the other games and Minerals from posts...

O yea. is the next site gonna be green still? bye1.gif
