It would have been best to keep this locked.. It will all fade from memory save a few side references.

Honestly, I forgot about this topic for the last few days... Lol... I t hink it is quite funny that people are making such a big deal out of something so trivial. For the people that will not stop complaining.

Let's break it down:

Some of you are ranting on and on about how bad it is that we have a selective forum.

For god sake's, this forum is on a website dedicated to an 8 year old game! If it's serious discussions that you want, go to a different website. It's simple. Shut up, and move on.

@ Mod's:

Can't this just be locked or made invisible. There is no purpose to this thread. If you get invited to the HT forum, good for you. If you do not, suck it up, and life goes on.[/endrant]

So, you're saying it makes more sense for me to start banning hundreds of members that degrade the quality of discussion accross the board instead of making a sanctuary for good discussion?
No, sorry if you misunderstood.
The problem more accurately is that some people feel like the quality of discourse is being degraded. Banning people is probably the worst way to fix this actually.

There are no negative side effects for allowing all members to read the forum.

What's the worst that can happen? A topic being made in another forum? How is that bad?

Why don't you tell right now that 90% of the members are 14 years-old kids who do no deserve to be on these boards?

I'm only 14 myself(15 actually, late birthday). I am offended. I don't believe age = maturity.

A while earlier someone suggested the HT forum should be a forum where you say one thing stupid, and you're banned from the forum. I think that that's a really good idea.

I think the more personal reason for those members is that it ruins the sense of intimacy, and as has been said before, one of the purposes of this forum is to go back to the "good ol days". I'm not quite sure if it has been admited that this is the reason. Cheeze confessed that he did not have a logical reason for not wanting things that way though, and that is half way there.
I think that's a bad reason though, if they really want that intimacy again, AIM or email is the best way to get it.

...

If you really think about it, nothing is lost if we can read what they write. Unless they are talking down about us in that forum (which they say they aren't doing), they have no real reason.

That's what I was trying to say. There isn't any tangible reason for them to not want others to see it, the only reason is that it "wouldn't feel right" to them, because if there are tons of curious SEN members watching it, then it's not like the "good ol days" at all.

Bob, all your talk about people being elitist is kind of dumb. Here's why I think its dumb :

1 : It's a site. Who cares?
2 : The HT forum is a reward/incentive to be an intelligent debater/non spammer/non flamer while in serious discussion or wherever you post. So they are just picking the people who don't spam and stuff. Well, ok maybe some people do think that they are better than everyone but, just refer to reason #3.
3 : It's a site. Who cares?

You obviously care enough to provide an explanation and argue your point.

I care and think it's important, because this site is the epicenter of UMS map making, and obviously you care to or you wouldn't be posting.

This forum seems to feed the ego of some and injure the self-esteem of others.
Another insentive to whine, also. (If you didn't already notice wink.gif)

I'm going to make it plain and simple. The more you complain, the bigger the problem it is.

Thus, the only reason it looks like it's a problem is because you're complaining. So what we have here is circular ownage. You have small problem, you complain. Problem get's bigger. You complain more. Problem get's bigger. You complain more.

Stop complaining. Everyone should ignore this. Lockage is the best way to go. In 2 weeks, I guarantee no one will care. (If someone still does, that person really does have an ego problem)

Then lock it.

Both choices you could make leads to my idea:
Either you leave it unlocked (moose will lock later) and prove that the problem is getting bigger because you're complaining.

Or you lock it and show that it's not that big of a deal.

Well, I care that a bunch of people are crying that their not in it and other people are, but, I don't care that I'm not in it or that they are picking a few people that can go in it.

Ha, I just thought that after moose posted he locked it again and then you unlocked.

Anyway wow you made ONE post, and guess what that post was? It was more complaining continuing a topic that should have been locked.

Take CheeZe's advice:

Btw, your definition of "flaming" is terrible. It was just a slightly wrong comment. Suppose I had said "I liked how bob unlocked the topic" that still wouldn't be a flame.

So...

I like how bob continues to complain over the HT forum.

omg.... what is this high templar forum thingamabobber? it sounds like an invite only and that kill the purpose of SEN. Besides, why would they even want a "cool" people forum? and half of the people here who posted are cool and in fact well known this is ridiculous, what would they post in there anyways? don't we all get to decide a little bit. Don't we all have our own piece of the pie? I may be some unknown insignificant person but don't I have a tad bit of power to decide how SEN goes? ridiculous lol we should rather than admire, shun people who are iinvited lol tongue.gif wow... that post above from the mods.... that was SOO MEAN!!!! YOU SHOULDN"T HAVE DONE THAT!!! I don't think yoshi would've stood for that.... where is he when we need him? pity he is gone... owell... we'll miss you yoshi....
