Heh I just some them but the zergling looks nothing compared to its actual counter part. But the hydralisk was the best out of the 3. But I like the idea of starcraft being on a WC3 engine but the only thing is that starcraft units were ment for massing so you can't zerg rush unless your computer can handle 12 big spaced zerglings or it will lag. But who knows. Or you can't mass battlecruiser more then 4. w00t.gif

the zergling looks really weird i think...its just as big as a hydralisk too, i want to see hwat an ultralisk and maybe an overlord looks like on the WC3 engine

If a computer can't handle that then I wanna see them play Rome: Total War.

Yes, I know it's not 3D!

Hopefully it will be this time. And hopefully they won't use those WC3 models. Quite frankly, I like SC's 2d sprites better than those models. I think they look better. tongue.gif

The last time I owned some rebel scum in Rome: Total War! That was more like 160 of them thouh. Along with 100 some archers and maybe 80 warriors. However my army about ~2,000 in size had there way with them. Yes they did... To bad the game becomes gay and all your cities become squalor heavens.

Damn right! SC has beautifully drawn sprites xD

But if this is SC 2, I still wonder what it might be like...

It probably won't be the same graphics engine as WC; remember what happened the last time they tried that?

I personally like games on "Steam" associated with Valve like Half Life 1 and 2, Counter Strike and CZ, WoW is quite fun I admit..Diablo is fun as long as your not constantly fighting repetetive creatures and can't make levels..But Starcraft would be my favorite
(yes I know these are blizzard games)

Yea, I like the UT series quite a bit...various Nintendo titles, C&C I used to play, among a crap load of other things, but w/e. Duke Nukem still rules.

Bethesda, Rocksta, Ubisoft, Capcom, etc? there is a lot i like... this is just a starcraft website, so a lot of people here are more interested in blizzards work. But to tell you the truth a lot of hit computer games are made from blizzard so yea...

No Falcon.
1996 E3 Blizzard first showed Starcraft. It was built on the Wc2 engine. Huge criticism and was basically laughed at. It was called "Warcraft in Space". Blizzard was going to give up on Starcraft and move on.

However some of the programmers wanted 2 months to modify the engine and make it be able to do everything they wanted. In 2 months of time they completed there goal.

Starcraft runs on a massively modified Wc2 engine.
Starcraft 2 will probably run on a massively modified Wc3 engine.

I mean the Wc3 engine is a pretty nice engine. The main thing that needs to be upgraded is the rendering portion of the engine.

I'm a die-hard fan of FF7 since the first PSX title came out. Glad Square Enix gave Vincent Valentine a protagonist role!

I've played most FF games until FFX, except FFIX. Altought the first 3 seem to be tedious, I liked the SNES era FF's a lot, specially VI (FFIII in America). But Final Fantasy VII was the greatest of all. VIII was okay but could be better . . . and for X, Tidus sucks!!!! but Yuna is so cute ... It was ok too.

I just hope they don't change the fundamental starcraft formula. The first step for me would to bulid SC2 up to the point where it is SC exactly. Then I would add new content.

Ya, that could happen. They could first make an alpha starcraft 2 then people laugh at it, then they modify the warcraft engine to make it even better then they will have beta then final and when we play it people are gona try to play the beta all over again.
Report, edit, etc...Posted by dumbducky on 2006-08-07 at 08:56:37
Or they could make a new engine.

Well today when I popped in my starcraft cd to play some well starcraft I chose instead to watch the intro again. I noticed that during some parts of the intro there were some units you couldn't see. One of them i think was a reaver. The others were scrouges but they were HUGE. But also there some more that I want you to see.

Ok now. During the brood war intro you can see 2 marines talking to each other. Were they mentioned in the game later on? And also. You know in starcraft ghost how firebats can shoot out long range fire bombs, well when you see those zerglings being set on fire could that be that firebats attack? And also when there inside the battlecruiser is that stuvoc and duGalle?

Why take the time and money to rewrite an entire engine? The main elements that would be added would be - More Blizzard Modding Support, Improved Mapping system, Full Trigger Scripting Language(JASS can be improved on), Renderer rewrite\update, Slightly Modified Map File, Possible Terrain Deformation Support(Would be great for map makes).

Why rewrite an entire engine? Why not just update the current one with improvements?

Ya thats true. Unless ducky was trying to say for the new engine its like starcraft ghost were you can build marines then take control of one of them and fight but then again there was a game like that called battlelion wars and it sort of got boring.
