I was asked how i made my backround. here it is:
Create a new document (i use 400x125)
Fill the backround with grey.
Image->Mode->Greyscale
Filter->Texture->Grain with these settings: Intensity 40, Contrast 50, Grain type Regular
Filter->Blur->Radial Blur
Then hit Cntrl-F a few times (i use three)
Filter->Artistic->Film Grain with these settings: Grain 3, Highlighted Area 0, Intensity 6
You can keep it as this:
But i take it a step further.
Filter->Distort->Pinch with Amount 50%
It should look like this:
You can use it with a few grunge brushes to make something like this:
