Staredit Network

Staredit Network -> StarForge -> Crashes with Forces...
Report, edit, etc...Posted by LethaL on 2005-01-30 at 16:33:32
I don't THINK I did anything wrong, but when I try to go to 'Forces' in SF it crashes and asks if I want to send an error report. It doesn't say there's a run-time error, just 'StarForge has encountered an Error and is forced to close.' helpsmilie.gif

Edit: For those of you that say 'Go change Forces in SCXE,' I'd rather not because I just placed some sprites and it looks good (And SCXE deletes sprites). smile.gif

my sugestion to you is to switch to the Starcraft X-tra editor version 2.6. it's a little better that StarForge, being that it's supposed to be a replacement for it. I think rhy have ver. 2.5 on this site. look around, you'll find it.

That didn't make sense. X-tra 2.6 is nowhere near a replacement for Starforge. Matter of fact, once Starforge is complete, it will be the replacement for Xtra.

StarForge is preferred over SCXE by many map makers, and eventually, all of them. I just wish I could get this fixed. >< It's not the first time it happened, just, the first time I had no sprites so there wasn't a problem switching to SCXE and changing forces.

ADDITION:
Heh ok. My problem was probably that I wasn't running SF 2.2. I removed SF and installed 2.2, and the Forces opened with no problems. biggrin.gif

Argh, noobs! Starforge excels over X-tra editor in every feature except isometric terrain and perhaps unit placement. SCMdraft can be used for that.

Yeah Starforge is so much faster trigger wise.

Anyways I got this problem before. Not that it is a problem to me because I did not effect anything.

What I did was I erased averything for force 1 so that force 1 had blank name and I got an Error. I think because if you don't want anything you make is invisible?

I'm really not sure what happened, but it's been fixed within the new SF 2.2. smile.gif

As for SF vs. SCXE: If you say SCXE is better than SF, it's probably only because you don't understand SF, which would lead to mild retardation because SF is even easier to use than SCXE (In my opinion).

forge replacing xtra is true...liek in another year...rigth now xtra is bug free...i mean....i wouldnt wanan make a map full of bugs....

the triggering in forge is hard! (maby im just a newb trying to do something for pros?)

cause some times....theres a prblem...like when i make a map with xtra, and send it to forge, then all the triggers i "unchecked"(so it wont do it) works when i put it into forge...so i have to delete maby useless junk...and soemtiems after i delete i irealize i need it angry.gif

You can put Never(); as a condition. It can act as a "unchecked" un the other editors. Heck, you can even put nothing in the conditions and the trigger will still stay.

StarForge Triggering is faster, not necessarily easier. It's really only easy once you get the hang of it. But then again, isn't EVERYTHING easy once you get the hang of it? tongue.gif

hm...weird. in xtra if there were no conditions it would be liek an always....
is it like that in forge?

Huh? In SCXE you can't make triggers without a Condition/Action.

you u can....
technically no, but you can uncheck it...thast no conditions =)

but i dunno....

Eh, you're right. I never tried, but I always thought that when you uncheecked all Conditions/Actions you would get an error when you hit 'OK.' blushing.gif

Yes. Actually TRY to understand it. Many people say "OMG I just looked at it and it isn't really that hard."

It used to be hard but then i realized I wasn't putting a ; and the end of my triggers pinch.gif . I too had the same problem as you but it wasn't doing that before. I ended up reinstalling it like 4 times after the first time it happened and it didn't work so I was stuck with SCM Draft and SCXE for a while. Then 2.2 came out and there was much rejoicing. Isometric terrain needs to be better though... Water on jungle doesn't work.
