After I cleared my cache last night I can no longer stay logged in.
After I log in, it takes me to the portal. And it says I'm logged in.
After that, whenever I go to the forum index to look for something, I'm a guest. If I click on a "Comment" link in the portal I can stay logged in. But going to the index logs me out.

Cache has nothing to do with your ability to be logged in. If you cleared your cookies too, thats it. You might want to click "remember me" then.

I'd rather state the obvious, then to start looking through code and settings for hours only to find out its the solution I stated above.

That's just the problem. Remember me doesn't work. And when I look through my cookies I have about five or six of them from SEN. So I dunno whats going on.

It does. But I know what to do now so it's okay. If I click on any of the dropdown links I log out. But everything else is okay. I'll live.

That shouldn't be the case either. Either way works.

if the cookie is set for staredit.net and the links point to www.staredit.net XSS protection blocks the cookie from being read

Actually... cookies are saved as staredit.net regardless if you use the www. or not. Even if, that would be pretty gay if www.staredit.net and staredit.net were treated as different domains. It would be even gayer for all those poor companies that use subdomains for special purposes, let's say, for a random example, http://store.bestbuy.com. You can't login from www.bestbuy.com because the store. in the front makes the cookies mess up? I don't think so. happy.gif

Go to My Controls > Board Settings and turn menus off. See if a normal menu system makes you log out as well.

It is a random sort of bug on IPB or something. Happened to me once on a different board and other on other boards. It is obviously a cookie thing, and I don't the specfics. I just waited, and it went away.
