Staredit Network -> UMS Assistance -> Laction - Froces problem

I was recently making a new version of a game sort of like Zombie Hotel. I started with starcraft X-tra editor Base mode as usual, then i used SCMDraft for square terrain in some parts. Then I went back into starcraft X-tra editor and i was creating locations, i made Location 26, named it then went to forces and the Force 4 name box had the same name as Location 26. If I change the name of one, the other one changes to the same name, why is this happening, is this why the map keeps crashing? Please help me out...

I would PM the map to Suicidal Insanit including information saying What version of SCM Draft your using.

First things first, make sure you can duplicate that problem, so try to repeat those steps again.

I've had problems like these, where locations, forces, trigger comments, unit names, and even map name would all mix together... Like the name of a Marine would change the name of a Trigger Comment, the location 'Anywhere' would be named 'Force 3' or such, and locations would tie with the map name...the only way i knew how to fix this was to create a new map...though that glitch only happens after using SCMDraft or Starforge, ermm.gif

Remember people, when you change map editors, BACK UP YOUR MAPS!

This happened to chu once, we tried for hours to fix the strings bug but no good he lost the whole map.

is that a huge problem? you just have to leave one location with an odd name.

T, if you still have that map I might be able to fix it using Starforge.

if you used scmdraft 2 tell me so I can fix it, if it was scmdraft 1 I can still take a look, but its unlikely I will ever update it.

Interesting. StarForge's and Scmdraft's "string editor additions" are more of a hassle then they are an great addition. And with that note, StarForge and Scmdraft are very unstable, their constructions entirely run with strings galore and this is a prime example of what happens when strings go wild. Interesting find though, There might be a use for this afterall... hm...

This has happened to me before after editing with Starforge. I would add comments to triggers and sometimes they would mix up other comments or string names. And if I deleted the comment text it would delete in other comments.

I just removed the locatioon, then everything i was... i even made 255 locations. and nothing changes

Um, I fixed it. biggrin.gif

All I did was turn off the Unused's on Location 26 in StarForge then delete Location 26 and call Force 4 something else then remake Location 26. It works fine now.

I know these effects can happen when you delete strings in scmdraft 2, so i think that might have been your problem. I used to get strings mixed between the title of the map and unit names.
Possibly switching from one map editor to the other deleted one string, although i would guess against that, because i switch programs all the time. teehee.gif
