Actually, after further testing I found this to be not true. You
don't need broodwar installed. However, if your registry settings
say that you have BW and you actually don't, SF won't work.

It say me that I have to look for the StarDat.mpq. I find it and press ok and them it say me that I have to close/open (Restart) the Sf.
But when I go to close Sf, it CRASH!! so, the StarDat.mpq Direction isn't save!!
Make sure you don't do ANYTHING before closing Starforge.
Try this:
go to Start->Run and type "regedit"
navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Blizzard Entertainment\Starcraft
Look for a key named "Brood War." If it exists, delete it or change its value to "n." Also, you could verify that the "InstallPath" key here actually does point to where your data files are. Starforge should have been able to rewrite this if you found stardat.mpq yourself.
