I haven't seen a topic about God being good or evil. Any kind of gods will do. Which gods are good? which are evil...? Why huh?

Lets see. I say God is evil (Christain) because he created everything. thus that means he create evil. If he created evil then....

What good would create evil?

To the idiots who won't stop posting that they don't believe in God...that's not what the discussion is about. It could be a smart discussion, but you guys are turning it into a moron convention.

A christian believes in a good God who didnt create evil but created something that went to follow evil. Cold is jsut the absence of heat the same as darkness is the absence of light then injustice the absence of justice then evil is just the absence of good... that means God cannot be evil.

Report, edit, etc...Posted by MillenniumArmy on 2005-02-09 at 22:16:13
But as he said, none of those topics really focused on his good/evilness but more over his existance.

Other, there should be only three choices
good/evil/nonexistant

This poll is about what God is like, not whether he exists or not
Report, edit, etc...Posted by Kame on 2005-02-10 at 00:01:44
ahem.
This is exactly the type of argument that traps Christians.

God is wrathful.
God is loving.

So in a way, he's both. Define evil better.

Evil is a term humans apply to any code of morality radically different from their own. This means that good and evil are subjective. Hypothetically, if only one code of morality existed there would be no terms like good or evil. One cannot exist without the other. To apply such terms to a being without equal is impossible. There's no one with whom He can compare his moral code. Therefore, in essence, He is neither good nor evil, but instead moral.

God is bad.

Have you noticed all the hateread around the world? people are bashing other communities without even knowing them, why do you think it all is happening?
Do you remember the reason for WW2?

"God" is a statement that causes wars, if there was no "god" we'd live in peace, but unfortunaly there is an imagionary creature called god that causes comflicts and arguments between the true living creatures called humans.

^ If you're talking about our religion, if there was no God, where would be nothing. But, that's impossible. God is there and he loves us. He created evil because greater love comes from overcomming evil.

I was under the impression WW2 was started by Germany, revolting over a crappy economy due to repayments for all the collateral damage caused by them in WW1

my bad...maybe it was god...

True that.

AqoTrooper:
Ah, the age old, 'why is there so much bad stuff in the world when god is supposed to be all loving?' question. Let's get one thing straight.
God had an angel he loved above anything else named Lucifer. Lucifer got an ego and tried to revolt against God, and so was cast into the pits of hell. Later, God created man. Lucifer saw this as his time to strike God and so tempted Eve into eating a fruit that God told her not to. Thus, sin was born into the world.

in other words: God created evil indirectly by creating Satan and allowing free will. However, Satan is the one the exploits it within mortals.

I was under the impression that it was when the Germans (read Nazi leaded) invaded Poland, gettin' it started (since U.K. had a pact with it for mutual assistance). tongue.gif
Don't give the wrong impression, please.

Just wondering... from where did you read this? Almost for sure it wasn't the (Catholic) Bible. confused.gif

By that last sentence, I must be Satan encarnated 'cause am placing doubts of it's existance in many other places. blink.gif

Please note that this conversation is not whether or not you believe in God.

This conversation is about whether or not God (any God) is good for something.

Some things to think about before posting are how has a god held a country together? What of the extremists, especially in the middle east at this time? How has it helped political campaigns and social movements?

If there is another post saying "I don't believe in God, so I put other", I will take appropriate measures against the person for spamming (by getting off topic), and I may be forced to close this thread.

Just so you don't miss it, I'll add this messege to the top post.
lol, aster beat me to it.

Well, now it's said by two mods, so tongue.gif

Do it by respect to your religion (as I do for others). Recall that it isn't compulsory... or even a requirement. wink.gif

Give me a reason why god(no capitals) should or want to be good or bad.

If you were god - would you be evil or good?
