Report, edit, etc...Posted by SA_Max71 on 2005-02-13 at 19:15:52
It's time to gamble, with SA_Max71's gamble map that is coming out in a few months (hopefully)! (It depends on whether windows 98 quits ----ing around and giving me grief.)

Terrain:
[progress]100[/progress] (100%)
Switches:
[progress]100[/progress] (100%)
Unit's placed:
[progress]90[/progress] (90%)
Triggers:
[progress]50[/progress] (50%)
Last action: fixing the countdown timer. Next action: Adding the triggers which will take care of when 3 bets are placed....
[progress]0[/progress] (0%)

Please note: I did not make the original gamble map. Revelade from SEN did. The only reason I registered on here was because I met Revelade and I played his map and then decided regerister on SEN was worth it... The reason I am fixing it, is because of a major glitch in the map that would cause the game to not finish. If you played his map about 6 times, than it would mess up about 3 times. Even with this bug, it was really fun to play. Before you demand/accuse me of stealing his map, you should know I asked his permission first.

Players:
Player 1 – 7:
---> The human gamblers
Player 8:
---> The computer
Player 11:
---> The computer that owns the green colors beacons *
Player 13:
---> The computer that owns the peach colored beacons *
*Note: The beacons are being used by these 2 players because they can not be owned by any of the human players, since triggers and units aren’t usually executed/placed for a human player that isn’t playing. This is why the computer must own these beacons.

Units:

Zerg Devouring one
---> Custom Name: currently unknown (I need ideas for this unit!)
---> Owner: Players 1-7 (the human players).
---> Function: The creature that tells the map’s triggers whether or not to view the in-game briefing. If, after 30 seconds has passed and the humans can’t decide on whether or not to see the in-game briefing, the in-game briefing automatically starts.
---> Owner: Players 1-7 (the human players).
Zerg Zergling
---> Custom Name: currently unknown (I need ideas for this unit!)
---> Owner: Players 1-7 (the human players).
---> Function: Sets how many rounds you want. If, after 30 seconds, no one has voted, 2 switches will be randomized. Based on the outcome of the randomized switches, the human players will play 5, 10, 15, or 20 rounds. (I could use ideas for this!)
Terran becon
---> Custom Name: Yes!
---> Owner: Player 9
---> Funtion: It’s mostly for aesthetic reasons, but it also makes game play a little bit easier. This unit is used for the in-game briefing and it sets the countdown timer to 30 seconds if the timer isn’t at most 30 game seconds.
Zerg becon
---> Custom Name: No!
---> Owner: Player 13
---> Function: Same as the terran becon.
Marines
---> Custom Name: Money
---> Owner: Players 1-7 (the human players)
---> Function: You can use this unit to place a bet
Dropship
---> Custom Name: Wallet tongue.gif ... I might rename it to "your big hand" or something like that (I could really use ideas for this!)
---> Owner: Players 1-7 (the human players)
---> Function: You need to load your marines into the dropship, and then place them next to a bet (to make a bet).
Datadisk
---> Custom Name: Bet
---> Owner: Player 8
---> Function: To make a bet, you must own one of these. To own one of these, you must place a marine next to it using your dropship.
Ghost
---> Custom Name: currently unknown (I need ideas for this unit!)
---> Owner: Player 8
---> Function: Through the use of randomized switches, the ghost moves to the bottom of screen, where the bets are located.

Gameplay:
--->Basically what you do is gamble you’re using your life savings. There is stragedy involved. You can choose not to bet, and by the time the game is over and the rest of the players have lost some money, you will win the game. But you can also choose to play AND you can get more money this way – it all depends on, if *cough* the switches I mean *cough* lady luck is smiling at you. To place a bet, you must load some money into your wallet, and then unload your money onto a bet. You will then own this bet (if the comp owns it). As soon as the countdown reaches 30 seconds, the ghost will start to move to the bottom of the screen, where the bets are located. Lets say for a moment, that, player one owns 4 bets next to each other.

[center] ---> screen shoot coming soon! <--- [/center]

If player 8’s ghost is moved to where player one’s bets are, player one gets 4 minerals! Since player one has 4 minerals, that means in the next round, player one can place 4 bets. And here is the part that sucks for the other players – if they placed any bets they don’t get their money back. They now have less money to bet with (through the use of death counters).

How to win:
---> Buy me off. (Joking… Sorry, I just had to say that because I felt like saying it.)
Ok, for real now. How to win:
---> Place 1 or more bets and hope player 8’s ghost will stand next to your bet.
---> Or: don’t place any bets and hope the other human players don’t win any bets.

Special features:
---> Player 8 will have a nexus, and some drones that will be used to give money to the human players. After player 8 gets so much minerals, it losses those minerals and each of the human players will get a few minerals. (I haven’t decided the exact amount yet… I could use some suggestions on this.)
--->Music! There is some nice background music whenever the ghost is moving. (I am considering adding a trigger or 3 that would allow a human player to turn off the music.)

Special features (that *MIGHT* be added):
--->You place a certain amount of marines at the bottom left corner. When you are ready, you can start this bet. How this will work, is one or more switches will be randomized. Depending on the outcome of the randomized switches you will loss money, not loss any money nor gain any money (AKA break-even), or you will gain some money. This isn’t the same as the main game play (involving player 8’s ghost). This feature will function similar to the random money in SEN’s store.

Pictures!

A message to Revelade:
--->The reason it has taken as long as it has to get this project up and running, is because I have had to go through several versions before I got one right and the way I like it. Now that I have one that is organized in such a way that I will remember where the locations are, I don’t think I will make another version.

Then why do you have 138 minerals at the moment...

Anyway

Sounds like it will be a fun map. It sounds like it will be a very long and complicated map... What kind of gambeling will you do... I didn't really read the first post... You should have units named after game Cards

Example:

a BLACK Aldaris = King Of Spades
a BROWN Aldaris = King Of Clubs
a Black Kerigran = Queen Of Spades...

Ect...

All you would need is 13 units and then 4 unused players for the colors and you could easily do a card map... That would be coolest...

EDIT: W0000T 1000 Minerals

Yes, I know my first post is VERY long, but please, read it before posting will ya?
...
Anyways, I am considering turning this map into a casino. I do not know if I will, as it has taken me since last october to get this map to where it is now. Besides that, I am getting close to hitting the string limit (assuming I haven't yet).

Also, from the human player's prospective, it isn't that hard to play. It takes about a minute to set the options the humans want, and then the go ahead and play!

I was just suggesting that you would turn it into a card game... All it would do is use switches that randomly choses a CARD from the deck... you need 13 units in 4 rows... You can then have the units different colors representing Spades, Clubs, Hearts, and dimonds. then you can play games like crazy eights and stuff...

This is fully possiable And I am actualy thinking on making it lol...
But I'm just giving you an idea.

ya, thanks for the idea... I know how I would do it. Go ahead and use that idea; if I doubt I will use it for now.

I don't think that guy made the first Gambling Map for SC. The ones where you bet on people in fights have been around at least 3-4 years. Though hadn't heard of the exact style you mentioned for yours so its the first real random gambling map instead of one based on comps(or humans) fighting short fights with others betting on them.

I was thinking of making a Texas Hold'em Since thats the best gambling game... I dunno, i play it all the time in RL with real money. It's the greatest ever. Better than poker i'd say.
I think you should add alittle more things to make the game more understandable, cause some n00bs might not know how to play. And i hate really long reading tutorials on how to play, they never even explain very well anyhow.
