This is a bit random. But seriously. People back in 1970-80' thought that hover cars were going to be invented by the year 2000. (Or thats what I've heard). When do you think they are ever going to give us some hover cars! Or if they ever do. smile.gif

have you checked the military yet? they always get the new fangeld stuff first. In Fact from what i remmber the us military already uses hover cars trucks apc's etc. there invented but way to expensive to have on the roads. just like water cars lol. coasts about $40k from a british man in england to buy one lol. the hover car would probly coast more. and to replace the shirts ewww thatd be like every 3 months or less. also they only go about um 10 feet off the ground and the skirt around it goes maybe 2inches off the ground

Have you seen 2001 a Space Odessey? A bit funny because we are supposed to be super advanced in the new century.
I doubt hovercars will ever exist because it will just cause a new thing to deal with. Plus think of all the accidences....There are already a lot of irresposible ground dirveres. Think of them in the air.

There are hovercars, and a lot of new technology that is Uber. They are just insanely expensive and not commercially available.
Report, edit, etc...Posted by LegacyWeapon on 2005-02-14 at 00:27:53
To add on to Kaboom,
There are only 4 actually directions to go on the ground with some in-between directions that don't really count (forward, back, right, left). But in the air, you add the factor of up and down. There are enough accidents on the ground, how many accidents do you think will occur in the air?

I suppose commercially available hovercars could be a reality if a 'hover-rail' system was put into place. Basically, you have powerful magnets in a strip running down a road, and opposing magnets in the bottom of the hovercar = hovering.

Don't think that would work though.

On a related note - did you know that we've invented forcefields as well? They're in testing on some light tanks I think. They can vapourise an RPG before it hits the vehicle, so it would help in Iraq.

Well then the tanks wouldn't be able to shoot out of thier own force field. wink.gif

That would ruin the whole point of being able to hover! sad.gif

The tank would fire non-conductive shells. smile.gif

hover cars if you have seen one. like i have on TLC channel is in use by the military but not abundent. they dont use magnets but very powerfuill air curent and float asbout 5feet of the ground and have a skirt that directs the airflow down that skirt sits about 1 ta 2inchs off the ground smile.gif try watching soem educational shows and reading material it helps

But, wouldn't hover cars use quite a lot of gas? The sole resource everyone is and will be fighting for?
Report, edit, etc...Posted by CrazyWulf on 2005-02-14 at 17:16:41
ya they would. tis why we inventing hybrids now and should see them take over soon

Sorry Will but this would cost billions of dollars. Think of the cost of current road matience and multiply it by 3 or 4(keeping the magnets magnitized and the magnets from breaking, ect.). Then installing the magnents would cost even more. Basically, magnets are not realistic.

Hmm, well by the time we're "suppose" to have the technology for hover cars, we'd all be dead from a nuclear war or something happy.gif

i agree magnets would be to expensive. alotho hover cars do exists just probly wont see em in the genral public for a long time. heck ill probly be dead before they come out.
only way we will die from a nucluar war is if the preseadent of the USA slips and pushish the buttion wink.gif

ALL of us would probably be dead by then.

Someday, one of our presidents will go corrupt and push the button wink.gif

On a similar note their are these laser things that they have now to put on the bottoms of airplanes to shoot down any rockets ..ect.. that may be fired at it!
Report, edit, etc...Posted by CaptainWill on 2005-02-14 at 19:16:49
That's why I didn't think it would work.

yes but if the missle doesnt have a guidense system it wont work i bet. seening as how the laser is only a beam of light that most likly frys the electronics. ohh wait a missle without guidense aint that a rocket?

only way we will get hover cars that float like in The 5Th element(movie) or on tv shows like futurama is if we use a system like the hairer jet(cant spell it) were we use powerfull engins to push air threw the turbines and it will make you float. or some sorta anty grav system. wich um ya would take alota money to create. probly looking at 2 3 generations down the road.

im thinking we are alredy in danger of havening ww3 with nukes. hate to say it but. armericans are war hungry well at lest there presendent is. i like beening canadian we picefully smile.gif

People are already too stupid to drive regular cars, and you want HOVER cars? You can have your hover cars, I'll settle for keeping my life.

ill stick to walking. much safer. ppl drive crazy enough as it is. with hovercars ppl would die alot more

We need teleportation devices so we can cut travel time. It's also the safest smile.gif
