Staredit Network -> Concepts -> X & Y Co ordinates

I think this has been already done but here it goes.
In my space rpg you control a ship that is in a square box of space terrain(just enough to where you dont see the platforms). This uses minerals and vespene. its easy
Forward +1 minerals backward -1 minerals left -1 vespene right +1 vespene, and using that I am able to give the players the ability to use a kind of "slipstream" space travel or use a plot based auto pilot while you do things in the game. This doesnt have to be minerals either.
player moves up create 1 * unit and if the player continues to move up you subtract all of the previous units and create a different unit that counts as, as many as you had before.. Might be a little confusing, if you really want it just pm me or wait till i get home to perfect it.

yeah thats pretty cool, i might use it, you know what you should also do? make it so that players ship faces the way it moved (easy trigger too tongue.gif ) that would make it pretty neat, also, diagonals??? confused.gif
otherwise, awesome idea biggrin.gif

That's not cool, it's useless and stupid. You could just actually move the unit, as opposed to indirectly moving the unit in a complicated system requiring hundreds of locations and triggers.

So optimistic as always... tongue.gif

Tux needs to make a "move unit to location" concept map. Maybe I should make it.

It's very useless now that we have a "Find Unit at Location and graph the points"

ya..use the system metal marines uses...grids....

Doesnt need hundreds of locations and triggers, your probably overthinking it .... I am using the space that you could actually move on for terrain as in planets...Im also working on placing locations at certain coordinates it will work to a certain degree " not that ive tested" but I know it will at least move so hopefully I can get it to work how I want to.
But notice my rpg is called *SPACE* so all I need is a box and when a certain co ordinate is met a planet or whatever appears on the minibox the player uses.

2 locations if you are good enough, many use 4
A few triggers!? More like many copies of the same 2 triggers, and then some

I can't belive your argueing about how many locations it uses. Only shows how well you don't know the system.

Making a 'move to' system is basically what I did in my unlimited gunner system, except that one was more relativity movement instead of free-range movement.

I can make a free-range 'move to' system if you want.

Could you make it and send it to nandyrandy@gmail.com , sure would be happy biggrin.gif

I get lost in everyones trigger names, It seems people can't grasp concepts very well so they just name every varyation and provide it free to copy.

You know there are 3 different “grid” systems and they do compleatly differant things.

Bolt I don't understand what you just said... Im going to look them up to see if their useful
actually I think i do know what you mean.. I don't get what a move unit to location concept is :/ are they talking about what I posted ?
Edit: Ok I looked them up but their not in tutorials so I guess its in experiment maps but im at school so yeah..
Edit: BTW in the beginning I was going to use a grid system but theres several players going to be able to fly into eachother so I need accuracy on where the player is in order to move a unit on another players grid.

What are the 3 different "grid" systems? I know "Find the XY Values of the Unit Location," "Preplace units and give amount then center location," and a "Center location, spawn units, remove, then center location again."

I agree we should name these "grid" systems better tongue.gif

You also have my "coordinate" system where you can center a location at any X,Y part of the map without using units.
