I noticed when you submit a map the website changes its name. For example I submitted Ultimate Race of DeathV1.01.scx but right after I submitted I checked and it had changed the name to Ultimate Race of DeathV1[1].01.scx. I don't want an extra one added to the name because then people that download it here will have to download it again if they play on b.net and vice-versa. Furthermore those extra characters make the map name too long so that the unplayable error occurs. For now I'll put a disclaimer telling people to remove the [1] from the name when they download but why does the website add those #'s anyway? Is it really so necessary?
I personally vote for having the names not be changed when you submit them
but then maybe that is just me.
Stop submitting in .Zips then.
It's that simple.
It appears to do that whenever I download with Internet explorer. It is extremely strange, but I will see what I can do.
I don't submit anything in zip format... I submitted the map in question in .scx format. Hmm wierd, I guess just use Firebird exclusively Yoshi?
"firefox"
I'll see if I can fix it though.
When I used ifrefox I remember it did this alot and with IE it's almost never done it before(I only see it in some .zips).
How could it change the name? Isn't it the DLDB Keepers that change them or something. I don't see how a browser could change the name of the files you upload...
It changes the name of the file once you download it, not us when we approve it.
BeeR changed my sounds name instead of KrAzY Sound Pack, he renamed it to Krazydrunkking's Sound Pack then IP deleted my sounds since they can't get in SEN
ADDITION:
he edited it because it won't fit in SEN and it still didn't fit somehow
hmmm....wth is going on so when you submit a file they change the name????
Yes we do. For refenerence and security, the filename changes. Upon download, it is dynamically renamed to is normal name, and its like as if it never changed. IE likes to put a [1] where you put the version Map God...
so when you download it the real name appears instead of the renamed one?
I guess I'll upload it with a different browser next time... any chance ya'll can take the [1] outta my file? Or is it taken out already
?
There is no [1], it depends on the browser you DOWNLOAD with. I'm still screwing around with the code though.
