This might be a small thing, but I'd like to see some more capability with the editing and adding of files, more specifically the comments and feedback that come to map makers when they read the "critique" on Download pages. I understand that there are mods and admins going about and keeping an eye on things, but I'm not so sure about the things people say about maps on the DLDBs. More than necessarily I've seen quite a few immature and uncalled for comments on Download pages, and whether or not it's true, I don't see much action taking place about it. I've already PMed a few complaints to a mod about one person, but unfortunately it's becoming a knack to continuously report it. I understand that the forum is open to free speech and has its limitations, just or unjust. However, I feel something should be done. I have a few suggestions:
- Creating an option as to whether or not some comments or critique can be made with certain words. Although there ARE censors, I think it doesn't really help much. Things like: "THIS IS A PEICE OF (blank)" still gets the point across.
- Increased activity or a position to regulate DLDB and abuse. I know BeeR_KeG[eM] and a few others are already doing this, but it's only a suggestion.
- The ability for the submitter and/or author to delete comments altogether. If certain words are used in a comment (ie NOOB [and it's variants], censored words] it can be deleted by the submitter and/or author. (To keep from deleting posts that they just don't like). OR have an option to let the person decide whether or not to have comments at all?
I might be overdoing it, but hey, whoo.
Unfortanately, we have nothing coded at the moment which allows us to see all of the comments in bulk. Thus, we put up a warning about accounts getting deleted, and I try to remove offensive comments when I see em, but when we code someone to see them all, I'll go on a deleting spree of comments/members.
Once in a while I get PM's from these types of things(Most are from you Mp)3), and sometimes I have nothing else to do and I read a few of them but it's hard to keep track since it's like havin 1.5k active threads in there and it's no easy job.
Mp)3 does have a nice idea though, the ability to give the submitter to delete comments.
Feel free to report them to me, provided you include a link. Maybe a report feature should be made, where the file is added to a list of files that need rechecking.
Or to "hide" the comment until someone views it.
Is it possible to get this done when when you guys starting on the version? I heard that you might be recoding everything.
Actually, I was planning on doing it for invision 2.1 anyway
