Map Makers Make it Big!

Bill307 a map maker that has been making maps for pro-gaming competition has been mentioned again in the Korean realm, this time with a full interview. He is a well known map maker who has made maps for Wgtour, iTV and even Blizzards Invitational Mystery Map Tournements.

He has been interviewd at www.bwtimes.net. As interviews go this is one is special for 3 reasons. One he is a Map Maker - you do not see often interviews on Map Makers. Two, its actually a good interview for a change. Three, he mentions a couple of UMS maps he has made worth noting.

Bill's Interview

Another not so recent interview of probably the most famous of all map makers out there, Rose.of.Dream was featured about a month ago at TL.net. Check it out if you have not done so and your into Melee Map Making.

Rose.of.Dream's Interview

If you do not know who Rose.of.Dream is you can read this article that talks about some of the maps he has made and map balance.

Most Balanced Map

In honor of SEN I recently also published, what is perhaps one of my better articles, a "dossier" at WGTour that talks about the importance of map making and the influence map makers have had on the whole Starcraft community. It also showcases the Terrain works of many SEN map makers.

Nice to see you posting here again Entropy smile.gif.
I'll go read those, and hope we can help you on your mission of reviving B.net map of the month (Right?).

ADDITION:
I just read the first one, very interesting.
But, uh, the next one is broken, try clicking the link yourself tongue.gif.

I would post more often, but my first post: "the rectangle" got sacked and moved to god knows what forum. Since then I have been fearful of posting news related to our specific world. It is hard to predict what you guys consider news since there is no real standard. I mean sometimes you see a melee tourney posted as news, sometimes a news like Starcraft7 which is not UMS or map related etc.. After "the Rectangle" was moved I became, unfortunately for this community, more "conservative". This is the site perhaps I am most conservative -which is funny in a sence, considering what SEN is all innovation and audacity.

The mission is there - I move slowly forward bringing all the melee map makers to SEN FIrst - even if I have to do it one by one - then I will work on starting the "map of the month" again.

It's very nice to talk to literate (Lol, older you could say) people on SEN...well, anywhere actually. I see Nozomu reading this (Well, his browser is on this topic tongue.gif), it's very nice to talk to him too. People with good speech rock smile.gif.

About your "Rectangle" topic being moved...
You should know that whatever you feel is news worthy in SEN is. Just becuase one topic was moved doesn't mean they all will. Do it and see what happenes, I'm sure you won't get banned happy.gif.

But back on topic...that second link is broken tongue.gif.

Well that's new. It's rare that map makers get any attention compared to big time players. Frankly, I think they deserve it more, but like any game it's the players who get all the attention.

If melee map makers get reviews, it's only fair that ums map makers get some reviews too biggrin.gif

It got moved to the gaming forum happy.gif.
Truthfully, I wanted to move the news post as soon as I saw it, but I let it sit. However, when like 15 members also complained about it, it got moved.
The tourney news I would also kick to garbage if it was up to me.

My only comment would be a little more conservative on the bbcode / color rapeage, orange really isn't a sen color happy.gif.

No supe que eres Argentino?

Your bandera Argentina caught my eye. Never really noticed before.

Always nice to read your well written articles. New and interesting maps are definitely vital in keeping starcraft fresh and propelling new stratagies and gameplay exemplified by pro tournaments.

Too bad these maps however get so hacked up. My download folder must be filled with a bazillion Lost temple gamei's etc. You would think having this many different versions one wouldn't ever be "downloading" when joining a Bnet game lol.

Long live melee maps!

VERY interesting. I had to register at WGTours to read the news but whatever. Rose.of.Dream's maps PWN, they are so cool. The terrain posted in the WGTour site from our members is UBER. The most balanced map article is most interesting too.

I found Bill307's interview very interesting.
Funny how very official things like that still use stuff like "^^;" and all that.
