Many people believe we are still in the renaissance becuase the Humanism ways are still being practiced very day. Renaissance literaly means rebirth, the renaissance came after the middle ages, and during that time period people tryed to relearn the classics of acient rome and greece. Look at us today? many important buildings have greek and roman arcitecture incorperated into them. We are also trying to teach our children to be as well rounded as possible and to be smart in many fields of study. That was the same thinking back in the old days of the Reniassance. So what do you think? Do you think we are still in a Renaissance, or some type of other era or stage? (note this can include/ incorperate wars, politics, the world, and problems in the world)

To me, the Renaissance was just around when the time people call the Renaissance started. It's like when the changes occured instead of everything after the changes.

Renaissance: Era from 1452 to ~1600 & ~1700 to 1812

People here don't study or get a doctorate's degree in many fields of sudy like they did before. Normally people get 1 or 2 degrees in different fields but they don't go past 5 like they did before.

The Greek and Roman architecture wasn't part of the Renaissance, it was part of the Neo-Classical era or The Age of Enlightment during the XVIII Century.

We already know the Classics of Greece and Rome thus we no longer have the great respect that the Enlightment age had for them.

During the early days of the Renaissance people didn't turn to Greek and Roman ways. They turned away from the Dark Ages and the Medieval Ages.

My point was that the Renaissance was sort of a golden age of the arts for western civilization. And the Renaissance did come after the Middle Ages. Most of the Renaissance had people wanting learn about the great days of old (alxander the great, Rome, Greece). They wanted to relearn about the classic ages (greece and rome). Many importnat buildings in the united states have greek and roman arcitecture incorperated into them (i.e. the capital building). The renaissance was an age of learning and of art advancement, and we humans are still learning and developing new art forms today, THATS why many people believe we are still in a renaissance!

Also there were two Renaissances! The italian renaissance that produced Leonardo Da Vinci and many others. The other was the Northern Renaissance, which produced Shakspeare. The Italian Renaissance came first becuase the northern lands (germany etc..) were still battling plagues and many other problems.

well the main goal of the Italian Renaissance was a movement against the church. when Jesus came the chatholic church and everyone else were expecting the end of the world. in repentence almost all of europe goes into the dark ages in which not a whole lot happens. The Renaissance was a resurrection of life when people relized that "wait a tick, were still here" so theyt lost some of their fear of the end of the world. this resulted in humanism, or the centerd look on humans instead of god, in this sense today is much like the renicance where most people arent thinkign about god when they make their decisions.

The reason the italians started to look back to the greeks and romans was because that was the closest none christian thing that they could find. They wanted to look back to the days when things werent so backwards. In this sense i would say that today is not a Renaissance, people are looking to the future now adays and arent rediscovering the ancients so much. also we havent been in a period in which not a whole lot of advances happen, becuase of this fact we cant be having a Renaissance becuase we are really jst continuing what was has been happening sense the beginning of the agricultural and industrial revolution.
