THE APOCALYPSE RPG
Story
At the time when extra-terrestrials were discovered, they had no desire of harming Earth. Twenty years later, the aliens were in dire need of resources and decided to take over the Earth. They developped an experimental weapon of unimaginable power, able to wipe out all life in a large radius. They aimed at Earth, and the weapon fired a large plasma beam. The beam exploded and destroyed multiple cities in the blink of an eye. Two years later, the aliens inhabited Earth and created large breeding pits so they can reproduce. Meanwhile, four specially trained soldiers rised up and decided to destroy the breeding pits in an attempt to end the apocalypse.
Gameplay
At the beginning of the game, you start unarmed and you have to get to an outpost, where you will be able to choose your starting weapon. On the way to the outpost, you will be fighting some aliens. They aren't huge and they won't kill you unless you let them. Your character gets stronger as you progress through the game. I was thinking that there would be a max of ten levels. You also get to upgrade your weapon (Changing Units) as you progress.

What do you guys think of the idea? I'm open to suggestions, and remember this is only my second rpg!
*UPDATE*
I thought about it, and decided to scratch the level up system. From now on, you get money by killing and you can buy upgrades at shops. I'm still not too sure about adding items to the game.

Tell me if this is unbalanced and tell me how I should balance it.
Ok ill reply...Why is there only 4 player's? Other then that, It sound's fun...And one more thing, When do you think it will come out?
Personaly I think that using an ice tileset would be better then badlands...
Aliens in the artic is always a cool idea
I think you need to post some more information... The gameplay was very vague and can be better by listing battlesystems? Items? Abilities?
Sounds Ok so far... needs more work
I wasn't originally gonna add items, but I will if it makes the game better...
If I worked really hard, i could have a beta out in like a week or two. If school really gets in the way, could be two weeks.
One of the easiest ways to see if weapons are balanced is to try them out at low damage low hp and then just multiply that number for desired effects. That way they stay generally balanced. Also for some reason games like this just seem better with lower damage so like the most a gun would do is like 15 and you would have lets say 150 hp or something like that. Makes the game alittle more intense since you have less room for error.

Yes, that is true...are my units still relatively balanced?
Yep they are pretty balanced at first glance. But one thing you should do is instead of upping the hp as you get better weapons is keep it the same and just up the armor 2 or 3 more. It also depends on the enemies in your game. If they do get higher hp and higher damage and higher armor the good guys should too.
Yes, the enemies get stronger as you progress. So I think increasing the hp will be necessary
Will the game be using auto aim or manual aim? Also one thing you might consider doing is dropping the level system and just put in something so you get minerals for kills so you can upgrade. Make sure you make armor cost at least 1 1/2 as much as the weapons if you do decide to go this route. I am kinda bursting with ideas right now so if you want more ask away
The game will be using auto aim and yes i will make the armor cost x1.5 more than the weapons.
It looks as if you have quite a bit of the groundwork laid down. Now you just have to refine it and give it some polish.
And write all the triggers, of course. Although that should not be very hard. I, myself, am speeding along with the triggers for the second level in the campaign Crusade.
