Alright, I have a list of other crap to do, odds and ends mostly, but when I'm in the mood to start coding something new, this might be my next project.

Basically, it'll be taking your profiles to the next level. Currently, the only thing remotely similiar to what I'll be doing is the Invision Blog mod, which is paid mod ($50 I believe), and it probably sucks.

So my basic outline so far would have like 4 links.
General (mostly what your profile is now).
Bio (more indepth information about you (if provided, of course)).
Starcraft (what maps you made, what maps you love, your b.net name...).
Admin (a secret profile section where we can do all sorts of evil things to bad members ~ adv member notes will stem from this mod).

So anyways, some ideas were brought up in a topic called "Personal Space: Let's use it!" or something similiar. Beer I think suggested a journal. Would this actually be used? Who would actually spend their time writing in an online journal, especially on a starcraft site?
One extremely good possibility is picking your own colors and etc for the page.
Another idea brought up a long, long time ago was comment boards on each profile. I highly doubt I would even bother, it'll just be prone to spam and flamming, but it's a possibility. Any thoughts besides the basic "Yes! Go for it!" and crap such as?

So, any suggestions? Like, what should be on the bio page? Favorite quote? Hobbies? Interests? Go ahead and give them to me, but keep this topic clean of your spam with the intentions of getting minerals. Your post will be deleted.

Edit: See below for a good example of a post that will definitely be deleted.

More personalisation is always better, for me at least happy.gif
Make that we can change our bar color, it would be better.

Ok, I pretty got this nice layout thought out.

-----Here is the link to customize profile colors-----
- At the top would be similar to what the Administrators have in the Staff Page.
---Small Divider---
- Then we would have your basic profile info.(Like we have right now)
- The Bio that IP suggested (The journal I suggested could be here, for more info see the journals in Blizz Forums or somethign similar to that)(It won't be like a diary but from time to time you may write important things that have happened to you)
- Your Starcraft Maps in the DLDB
- Your Tutorials in the TutorialDB
- Links to Army, Pets, Arcade scores and things like that
-----Some big divider goes here-----
- Admin Section (With Warn Logs please biggrin.gif )

I'm on one site where it gives you a bunch of blank boxes, and you fill in the questions you want answer. Like instead of saying 'email address:' you can change it to 'electronic mail' or 'reach me' etc, or you could just delete the ability altogether.

see the site here:Contemplicity

Here's an example of a profile page >censored for user protection, of course<

I don't know if I'd use the journal personally, mainly because I don't map. I have a blog *not telling you where,* and I keep updates of my artwork on my dA account, but that's because I'm active on the site. Perhaps other people would like to post updates of their maps in a personalized blog, as well as personal updates?
Good:
Cuts back on the 'I'll be gone for a few weeks' topics in the garbage, since they can just write it in there blog.
Cuts back on the 'omg when is your map going to be done?!' comments, since they can just go check the blog, if the person did not update the thread concerning their map (I think there is one of those...)

Deviant Art has a nice set up too. So doesSheezy Art.

I agree, except what about the maps you have made, but haven't been uploaded/excepted into the database? (Sidenote: What if you were banned from the DLDB?) What I am trying to say is, I there there should be a area where you can add links to the maps you are making, along with links to maps you have made (but aren't on SEN). However, the last option might be abused.

EDIT: Will this post be considered spam?

IsolatdPurity, you should add this Search Engine thing where you can search things in people's profile. Like if we want to search for people who have a particular interest, just type it in and it will display member's profile links. It's kinda like those things on AIM and stuff. It'd be cool smile.gif

To be able to leave someone a compliment or something in someones profile so that everyone could see it. Kind of like when you submit a map and someone says, "Hey GREAT Map, but the terrain could be worked on!"

You could add something that only those who have paid can have on their profile as an extra insentive. Toss up what that'd be

The Admin thing should have a extended section that is for.. hrmm.. how to put it...Notes kinda thing. You type in something like a quick question and the Admin replies. Or maybe, make like a extended section that makes it so you can post something IMPORTANT to the Admin's...and if it's...

Go with the journal, I love those. And I'd write in it.

Doing all Kinds of stuff like that I think will complicate the life of our Admins tongue.gif

The Bio spot I think will be nice, since people can't know really who you are with what we have now. Customizable colors can be cool but them the site will lose there stile... ANyways it will be easyer to judge and comment once well have seem it.

Oh, and will the admin section be veiwable by all the people who look at your profile, or will it be only seen by admin and mods?

We already have that but you usres can't see it.
The leave a message for admins in your profile would be kinda useless for us really. Since we don't waste our entire day looking at people's profiles.

Lol, geez we're so obsessed with SEN...

If you look at other starcraft sites, you'll c that we're one of the websites which contain some of the most fanatic members when it comes to talking about the website/community. I guess it's because of our two altruistic competent Administrators who baby sit us very well and built very strong relationships with us, the community

But I meant like a section wich the admin leave notes about you so the people can know, like it a guy spams or something, the admin leave a note so everyone sees hes a spamer (this is just an exaple there could be other stuff too).

I have a suggestion too, you show but a "High score" Spot, where you can see like his army ranking, or some scores from the arcade and stuff like that.

Simple: Cuz they arent.

Maybe not as quick or efficiently as you wanted, but at least they're doing it to the best of their abilities unlike most websites out there *cough* blizzard *cough*

If you notice in another thread in this forum IsolatedPurity mentions the arcade games will not be in the next version sad.gif . Anyways so no need for a high score spot really... I'll miss those addictive little games, hehe. Ah well...

I would love to have a section for favorite threads-- not necessarily the ones that we have posted most in, but those that we often view-- for example the "Terrain Hall of Fame." Also, a section for currently in work maps, which would contain only those active threads in the "Maps In Progress" Forum that we have chosen. Threads must be ACTIVE and informative.

It may lead to destruction but how about a

-Likes and Dislikes bar (likes is the same as interests)

-maybe our favorite quote pinch.gif

-maybe... a favorite band?

well the first two i really recommend but the 3rd one... i just thought of that one in 2 seconds...

suggested a while ago but a mineral log would be nice, telling you where you got minerals and where you lost them. also maybe total minerals gained, and most minerals acquired at any given point.
