"Find the Unit Coordinate's System" --Tux
Finds the unit's exact X and Y location on the map.

"Track the Unit's Movement System" --SaLa

Oh whose keeping track anyway. To me grids are old hat, and frankly they're more trouble than their worth if there's even the slightest way to get around using them. The only grid system I actually use in my real maps (not including those experimental ones) are the relativity grids (3x3 overlords, mainly... the fourth one you mentioned), because you can use them within the same trigger you call them from. The only time I'd consider seriously using the other methods is if you're doing something exotic or highly specific, like a chess game or tetris or something. Starcraft just isn't built for this kinda stuff.

Im using the x-y grid method in an side scrolling arcade style game. It comes in very handy in aiming your bullets. The idea was improved a little bit so that when bullets exited your screen they would not kill future enemies, but that was done with a sort of combination of tracking direction and the give remove grid systems. It would track where you moved and teleport accordingly, a set space away. Those are just two instances I am using these in maps.

I still think attaching names to them discurrages creativity.

But it does help for keeping track of what each system is called. People these days get very confused when you are referring to something they do not understand, and when you explain it to them, they tell you "Oh, I call it XXX"

But it doesn't help when someone says "just use the grid system"

Its like telling people to get it to work you need to use triggers.
