Here is a a preview of (4)HighLands
This is my first real atemp at 4 player melee map. So far people have given good feedback, and some really helpful tips for my next melee map's.
Please Take the time to download and have a play and tell me waht you think in this topic or over PM, or at other sites i have posted the map. Thank you for reading this.
Info:
map size:192x192
Players: 4
Tileset: Ice
Due to issues, map been removed for now.
i hope you didnt protect this map. Much better than your other maps.
BUT, i would take out orange and teal, and put blue on a hill like the others. Orange and teal would get romped, they would be better as expansion areas
There are some balancing issues that need to be taken care of, and im not sure, but if there are i would add trees, you need doodads for cover.
There is no map size 196x196.
Perhaps you mean 192x192?
Pretty nice map, It's awesome, Keep up the good work.
Sorry, Fixed that little mistake... I'm still addign and taking out things, I can't test at the moment since im a little busy donig 5 things at once. ....
Thanx aswell.
I feel your pain.
My entire mapmaking effort is currently focused on getting my campaign done. When it IS finished, you'll see it in the Map Showcase forum. For now, look it up in the Maps in Progress forum.
It'll be the one called "Campaign-Crusade".
hasnt anyone but me noticed the unbalance-ness of this map?
ADDITION:
oh yea, fatso, were arent talking about your map in this forum you can tell us about it in the shoutbox.
Ok done a little edit... have a look now, Does it look a little better?
i think the main starts could use less minerals...
most maps have 5-8 minerals yours looks like it has 10-12...
You need more expansions...
The formation of blues minerals seems a bit odd, it not the same as all the other formations on the bases, you might wanna adjust that so there isnt a mineral collecting imbalance.
I don't know if I can see all the minerals properly but it looks like Blue and Brown have more minerals.
Also, I don't think there is too much because the max that one of the players have, I think that have the most minerals is blue which he has about 10.
They all have 8 pacths, i am still worknig on it..
Hopefully if i can get it good enough maybe beer will allow in DLDB..
ALso looking at it i think purps base might be a center for attention... purp is the only one directly connected to the lnad mass and purp seems to be more of a traget then the other bases.... just my opinion... might be all wroung
Looks cool but too bad no one's really going to be playing it
It's a damn shame. People these days seem inclined to go for more of a "more is better" attitude when dealing with minerals and Vespene.
I say we make another patch which automatically turns money maps into UMS.

he doesnt have to allow it, you have to upload it, and if he likes it enough, he puts it in the pro section.

But I do have to approve the map first. Basicly when you upload a map to the DLDB it will be unviewable by all members except DLDB Keepers and Admins. We then check the map out and if it fits the rules we approve the map and it will be available for the public. Then I might move it to the Pro section.
Anyways Tazzy, I really do like the map, it's pretty much evenly balanced and you can clearly see that beacuse there is a decent amount of cliffs and chokepoints but the last doen't compose too much of the map. There are also big open areas and lots of low-lying areas which are also good for balancing otu a map.
The only flaw that i see are long games. There aren't many expansions out there, Only 1 main base per player and 1 big expansion for player. All the rest are just small mineral deposists of 2 resource patches. I think that the map won't go into the late game because there aren't very many minerals.
Note, i have changed the map just a little bit, so the preview is little wrong.
ill update map and prewview soon.

Thank you Beer_KeG[eM], Yes me and Yoshi, played it last night. He said it was good enough for the DLDB, Yes he ran out of mineral deposists fast. So where there where only 5 mineral deposists for little exp base. I have placed 7, all mineral deposists have 1800 and Vespene gas 5000. Im working on what space i have left for more exp bases. Maybe a huge exp base in the middel something to fight for. Agian Thank you beer. Im so glad people do like the map considering the fact its my first major melee atemp..
Edit:
Updated the map and preview.
Since this my first real atemp at melee map. I will allays keep this one... I will update this map as much as possable, I might even created a number 2, But different terrian maybe... Not to sure yet..
Thanx for all comments and feedback.
The map can now be found in the download database, If anyone wants to know....
