Earlier today there was an earthquake in MARYLAND where I live, I actually fely my house shake, And I thought this side of USA was not vulnerable to earthquake's, And since it was only a 2.0 on the rictor scale, It wasnt all that bad, And it also said the movement underground made this side of the USA vulnerable to earthquakes, MORE, often, Since an earthquake made us vulnerable, Do you think we are vulnerable to Tornadoes or Hurricanes?

Hurricanes would be my guese... *does not pretend to be any sort of expert on this subject*
we had a huge earthqauke here in Seattle a couple of years ago, i was like a 7.2 i believe... that was crazy, other then that we get little ity bitty ones every once and a while.

Uhhh... Since you're more vulnerable to earthquakes it doesn't mean you are more vulnerable to tornadoes and hurricanes.

Hurricanes can't happen anywhere anytime either. Have you ever heard of a hurricane in Colorado? Or a threat of one in Colorado?

Anyways, there was a tornado up near where I live a couple of years ago. It was in Siren, Wiscansin and that's the closest I've ever been to one. Like 70 miles from me. Hurricanes and earthquakes aren't even a problem to me. So that's cool, I guess. But we do get cold winters and lots of snow where I live. So blah.

MaryLand shouldn't be exposed to hurricanes. Hurricanes usually occur only when there's some sort of turbulence in the weather of the atlantic ocean. The East Coast, the ocean's current would be moving upwards and is colder water i think. Hurricanes don't occur that much on cold waters but they do much more in tropical/warm waters like the gulf of mexico

And tornados, yea same thing. Cities along the east/west coast most always have the same relative temperature. Well maybe not but the weather is stabilized by the ocean's temperature or w/e. Whereas states in the heart of the Land, like texas, are exposed to both the warm front from mexico and the cold front from canada. That causes tornados i think...

Earthquakes.... not that strange. There was this statistics somewhere that showed that the land/island NYC is situated on is "sinking"

Yeah, what Rhiom said, I live down in Olympia but I felt that Earthquake, and it really wasn't that scary. And we arn't vulernable to EQ. I probubly wouldn't even notice a 2.0. happy.gif

I dont think that tornados are very likely because of the fact that maryland is not all that flat. I would think that hurricanes would be your greater concern because it is easy for a hurricane to start over the ocean and touch land. When i lived in NJ in 1999 a tornado/hurricane hit, but it wasnt all that bad. I guess it is just the weather.

Tornados and Hurricanes themselves aren't bad at all. What makes them bad is that they pick up a whole bunch of debris and just send it flying everywhere. If you get caught in one of those windstorms, it's like being thrown into a blender.
