Ok, we "all" know the old and simple trees on fire, that consist in disabling the bunker so it is transparent and make his HP low so it make fire, but, if you want the player to be able to have observers in the maps and he go next to this building in fire, he will see it !!!
The new system consist to make the buildings invisible for observers ! Yes, it's possible ! You will need to put a p14 scanner sweeper, put bunkers for a computer, disable them, make an obs for human, kill the obs some milliseconds after (he need to have time to detect disabled bunker) and all that before the scanner sweeper end, and after the scanner sweeper end, it's done, get an obs , and it's invisible ! Don't forget to make their hit points low.

Wow that's a really nice affect. Will it work for protoss buildings too? U know so you can get blue fire and not beable to detect it with the observer?

If we can disable a protoss building, yes i'll test that with shield battery.

ADDITION:
Humm, it works with shield battery, but don't try pylons ! It close SC and say "script 6738412 does not exist" when you disable them. I'll post screenshot of blue fire to first topic very soon

The Shield battery made a crack on the floor (The shadow did)

Wasn't there something like this in Tuxedo-Templar's Fire Fighters map?
I think the forest caught on fire at one point.

Yeah, in Fire Fighters Tuxedo-Templar used terran buildlings for red fire. You can also use photon cannons for 'blue' fire if you want, althought I'm not sure whether it makes the shadow or not ermm.gif

Maybe you should tell the 999999999999999 weird effects that p14 can cause in your map, between them, freezing, crashing, fogofwaring, etc ;P

No, seriously, i posted this because i just discovered it and IT CAN BE USEFULL like my first topic said, it's for allow observers and fire trees....

PS : THIS WILL WORK FOR INVISIBLE BEACONS TOO I THINK ! (didn't tested but logically....)
So, just remember, we can make something be invisible from obs if it can be disabled doodad state. Just think of some new possibilities

exemple : in cat & mouse you have often a beacon to rescue other and sometimes its invisible, but we can get obs, and it's not very nice, so use it !

ADDITION :
if you need to find something, try before with buildings or another immobile thing, because frozen units arn't that utile.... (unless u can unfreeze them biggrin.gif)

Don't units placed before scanner sweeper don't freeze ?

(make this trick once u'r map is finished, or delete it, continue ur map and remake it....)

Heck I've been wondering (but never pursued a solution) how to fix that for the longest time.

My question is.... what was that about P14 being unstable?
If the map works once, won't it always work?
Or is it like... random crashes?
I thought each gameplay was the same.

Scanner sweep for p14... extremely unstable for any units preplaced or created within the time it takes for a scanner sweep to end. Make sure you know what you're doing before making a map with it. That is my advice.

well, no, it's not fully freeze, and anyway, the building is belong to computer, so you won't have vision. (oh and I never tried to make the AI share vision to see if we can see it, thing to test)

Well it never crashed for me since you use a bunker, but don't use supply depots or other unstabble buildings, I can't say if it NEVER crash, but i tested it some couples of times and never crashed for me (PC only !!!)

You're true (DK is never wrong lol!) but you could maybe add a Loading into the map and sometimes you have maps that players don't have own vision and it take times to apply vision, so it could be done at the same time, and it would be a real Loading lol ;p
ADDITION : And sometimes you could aslo add some copy/past/modified display text like "The house of the Haunted" by (U)Bolt_Head lol, that is the better exemple i have biggrin.gif

Well, with all i tested, It make probably x2 while the scanner don't end but, after that its normal, i think.

Mixing fires doesn't do anything because one type will overlap the other. And the closest thing to green fire is exploding rhynadons I think.
