LEGACY OF A SHADOWLION:DEMO

Players:2-3(3 is recommened for easier gameplay)
Game Type:True RPG
Author: PDF_Shadow
Map Size: 256x256
Difficulty: Hard
Terrain: Snow

Story outline:
A diabolic event is about to happen again that has happened long ago. Everything is bound to be doomed until a brave son of a heir is willing to challenge the unknown. He and his allies will attempt to stop this diabolic event before it happens again.
Gameplay:
You can play as the main character is Cylrin and/or one of the two sub characters that will help him as well as having a story behind them as well.
The two sub characters can choose who they want to be if they are already not taken.
-Shen is an Acryn swordsmen. He bares with ancient skills and techniques and goes great for offense as well as defense.
-Ira is an Acryn Sorcerer. As with Shen, they are both from an ancient civilization, but Ira has been taught with ancient sorcery magic including defensive/offensive spells, summoning spells, and as well as curses. Even though he is physically weak, he can learn and gain his spells much quicker than the other two characters.
Features:
-Follow story, dialogue, and mission objectives.
-Each character has their own unique skills and spells as well as their
strengths and weaknesses.Examples:
Cylrin:Skill 1 Fade(Activates mana timer)- This allows Cylrin to evade enemies and turn invisible, but note this won't work on all enemies like bosses and certain enemies.
Shen:Skill 1Soul Flare- This skill will require monsters around him for him to use it. He will inflict massive amount of damage to anyone and anything around him, even himself and allies, so be careful on using it.
Ira:Skill 1Auto-Barrier(Activates mana timer)-This makes Ira's shield regnerate at in an instant and make him invulnerable to monster's attacks for the duration. But note if monsters do more than you have shields, you will receive damage to your hp.
Teamwork: Working together to complete a goal is a must. One person cannot do it alone in most cases.
Shuttle spell/Item using system
On certain spells and skills you use, it will activate a mana timer. The mana timer will allow the effect of that skill/spell to stay on after you have used it, but as soon as you activate it your mana will act as a timer on that spell. When your mana(gas) reaches to 0, it will deactivate and the mana will regenerate overtime again.
Experience based leveling system
For each monster/enemy you kill, you will gain experience. When you reach a certain experience, you will advance in a level. Leveling up will get you 3 upgrade points(minerals, use them at a town to upgrade), more max hp, more max mana, and sometimes you will gain a new skill/spell. You can also sometimes gain additional experience points when you completed an story-based objective.
Other Features:
-Creative and awesome terrain
-Unique boss fights
-You can request a requisition at taverns at a town. You will get a reward after you complete a requisition such as upgrade points, more items, or certain items for side quests to make the game more interesting. (There are currently none in the demo.)
The demo is completed and you can download it. But there is something to be said when you are playing with just 2 players, is that there are a few minor bugs, but it will not affect gameplay so you can just ignore it.
Stop by OP PDF@USwest to give suggestions, bugs, or comments as I will be working on this to completely finish it.

mmm The Demo was insaine... The music was perect... The Plot Soudns Amazing... The terrain Was great...

I give you a 9/10 on that...

The one problem I found is that the enemies are so fregen Strong... When you enter the town you get instantly mauled by like 13 zerglings... I think you need to start with a potion or two or make the enemies less strong or give yourself more attack...

This RPG is looking Amazing And I would be Glad To Help You test Anything
Just PM Me if you need me

Screen shots look very nice but I have 1 question for the "auto-barrier" spell. How does it work? In the screen shot it just looks like the shield is being damage and it is creating the "barrier" effect.

Yea, The barrier spell is awesome, I would also like to know how you did that. Please tell us...I could use that effect in the map i'am working on.

It sobvious isnt it... If you read his first post he said IF the enemy has a higher attack than your shild you will take damage... It is obvious that it recharges itself to full or something like that constantly as long as you have it in effect and there is mana to spare...

BTW: Music Is perfect and Personaly thought it went with the words perfectly
This will definatly be one of the better Rpg's

Yeah, I must admit the beginning part is pretty hard, but people can find a way to get around the lings like the swordsmen is good at absorbing most the the damage and alternate the damage. There is also a chest with 4 potions near them
to help.

BTW, how far did anyone who played the map get?

I will be working on this RPG some more. If I improve the demo portion I will update it and add more.

Thanks for the feedback.

Can't you just use the trigger action "Modify unit shield points" (to 100%) in normal campaign editor and preserve trigger when the "Spell switch" is on? Nevertheless, I still think its an awesome spell.

Speaking of the intro, the zerglings are easy! Shen(zealot) has 3 armor doesn't he? In any case, Shen (/w 0 shield) only recieves 1 dmg from normal zerglings. biggrin.gif
What you REALLY should be worrying about is this:
Saving the NPC at the beginning when people are reacting slow is very hard, ESPECIALLY when you're the mage or the zealot (both are weak against yellow lings: Mage has low attack, Zealot does split-attack) It is best to have a full house when playing this games.

I made it to the fort in 1 player but the doors wouldn't open... Im guessing thats as far as the demo goes?
The begining is actualy kinda easy in 1 player as soon as you trigger the lings to start coming you run back to the orange guys and let them help you. Then you get the Potions and its all easygoing from there

The door glitch is a switch glitch. The Demo has a Boss in it and it would tell you when it ends. So no that's that's not the end of the demo. I Beat the demo, and I found it Very Good. The Storyline is very Unique and so is the way it follows through with Scenery and gameplay. I Give the entire demo a 9/10.

I also commend you on your Unique Boss Fight(Which I think Only a Few Have Gotten to because of the door glitch). I' Havn't seen anyone else use that Method of Boss Battle in a while. Good Job on the Map, Fix your Demo Glitch, and I Hope you Finish the Map.

If you play it in one player or single mode, there would be a few glitches I think. This map is for 2-3 players. It'll need another player character to make the door and stuff work right. I might try to fix it so it might be played in 1 player, but I think it'd be impossible to beat it alone w/o the cheat codes.

Now where would we find these said "cheat codes" hmm? happy.gif

I have heard some reports when you get to the fort, door won't open. It is fine if its one player because it needs player 2 or player 3 to fullfill the conditions for the door trigger to work. But I also heard it won't open w/ 3 players, if you guys do test this and this occurs, you can report it to me. If it works fine then say its works fine.

Wow. This is one of the best maps I've played in a while. I think it has the potential to really own all those other RPG's. Keep up the good work and don't get side-tracked with other maps! thumbup.gif

P.S. GUESS WHO! biggrin.gif

No my post was about how it works not what trigger used or etc. Because in the screen shots it just looks like a unit being attacked. Like in all games the shield does a little ball thingy to signify it is going down.

The map does look pretty nice. More screen shots? tongue.gif

The auto-barrier spell makes the sorcerer absorb damage w/ its shields than its hp. When it is activated the shields will stay at its max until it runs out. Itllact like a mana shield from DII.

This is an old topic but needs to be reviewed more often. This map owns the crud out of every other RPG I have played in quite a while. It has some SERIOUS potential. More people need to post on this. Honestly people, it is going to own, don't you want to say "I posted on that map!". Come on now, you know you do!!! biggrin.gif

to be ONE of Those RPG's... You know the amazing ones
you remember the rest of your life...

I hope he is working on the map alot because I really want this map
completed

You and me both Odd. I really like the direction he is going with this map. I really hope he makes it into a series... Kinda reminds me of my Doom Shift maps finished the middle one and started the first in the series... Havn't worked on them very much though.
