Staredit Network -> Terrain -> Badlands Terrain Blendings

By request. I'm still peeved over everyone's wall of ignorance and pessimism over my old idea, though, otherwise I'd post the full set. I just can't tell you how frustrating it is trying to do something helpful and watching everyone open fire on it.

I suspect there'll reach a point where people will get tired of doing tedious square by square custom terrain (or simply get tired of seeing your own shitty results), and there'll be more appreciation for something like this, but nevertheless I might as well post a few of these if it helps SOMEONE out instead of keeping them all to myself. They're not perfect but I spent a long time trying to minimize the squariness, which just goes to show that with a little creativity almost anything can be blended well... despite what the rest of you seem to think.

Low dirt to water using remixed temple tiles.

[attachmentid=5776]
Low dirt to water using asphalt and bridge tiles (works with normal asphalt too).

[attachmentid=5778]
High structure to water (ignore the abrupt outer squares).

Looks like you spent a long time on those, trying to find the right pieces to blend it well.
I see alittle blockyness though. My favorite is the second picture. It's the least blocky
The temple doors pic, has too many doors and not very blended.

Well you're welcome to find a better way. There's only so many tiles to mix with, though I'm sure there would be ones that blend better with some searching.

A lot of them. They fall in the river and the dam fans slice them.

Very nice work, tux. Planning on doing any of the other tilesets or maybe some other terrain types in badlands (I'm not sure which other ones you could do, other than high dirt & water)?

I'm nearly finished doing blendings for almost ALL terrain types of the badlands set (and even some new ones like cliff splicings, bridge walls, etc.). I'm tweaking them too to make them less blocky, as I plan to use them for A&O soon (which was my original reason for making them: to get extended cliffs and have a highway that runs over all terrain types).

I might do other tilesets too, but only if there's some kind of need or use for it.

Nice work, it's like some people with terrain are making any terrain that includes water, even you plus my slanted terrain smile.gif
