I think it should. It's terrible and bad for your health. People even KNow it and still smoke. It annoys us nonsmokers as well. All the bad smoke is pretty pervasive and gets into our lungs as well. "It's too addicting" is a pretty lame excuse. I mean, cmon there's much much more out there that's far more addicting than smoking (for instance, Starcraft)

True, and the reason behind that is because we were completely oblivious to how serious and bad this was and did nothing to stop or replace it.

Heck, instead, people should start making "healthy cigarettes." Where instead of tobacco, it's something else healthier.

They have reduced it like crazy in Ontario. You can only smoke outside now. I am not sure if you are allowed to smoke you own house if you have a non-smoke with you.

Still, it is impossible to ban smoking. Too many people do it. Itis as hard as banning sex.

It's impossible to Ban Smoking in a matter of days. It will take a matter of decades or more to do so. Either we make a replacement or we just slowly make more and more restrictions and prevent our generation and future ones from smoking.

I really think the amount of smoking can easily diminish if we just get all the tobacco companies to quit making cigarretes and make something else, perhaps a replacement.

Even a replacement wouldn't be much good. You're still breathing in smoke from some burning substance in large quantiies.

Screw the smokers. Just disband every cigarette making company and enfore the illegal drugs even more.

I hate people who smoke, it's just plain nasty. The goverment won't ban it cause it's bad for your health, it's actually cheaper for them if you die earlier. The reason would be the side effects of smoking which is pretty much nothing that will alter your conciousness but it's just plain nasty to smoke.

If I see my wife smoking, I'll leave her.

Nicotine patches. They are healthy* and supply nicotine (The real reason for smoking)

Yeah, put millions of people out of a job. Create an underground cigarette movement. Watch crime and social disorder raise by 40%.

Face it. People aren't ready for the change and you cannot force them to change without serious reprecussions.

Instead, the cigarette/tobacco companies should start making other things perhaps similar/healthier than cigarettes.

Forcing it into a black market would hurt the government and exactly what chu said, it would raise social disorder and crime rates, much higher than by 40% I reckon.

How would it increase crime rates/social disorder? I think it's because of people getting high off these drugs in which crime rates and all that stuff are up there.

I don't know why people smoke this day in age!! II mean their is no reason for smoking ciggaretts. If you smoke weed at least you have a dumb excuse.."I wanted to get high".. But ciggaretts whats the excuse? "I wanted to look cool"? HOW d they make you look cool...

Well cigarettes are 'just so addicting' so people need to come up with another fad thats just as addicting...and healthier

Just because you think it's impossible doesnt merit a no. It's based on what you think should be done, not based on whether it's probable or not.

It still is possible to ban smoking; it'll just take time... lots of time. Eventually, our future generations will be a smoke-free society if we do the right things. No matter how hard we try and get the messages into those people, they will not quit. That means we must resort to coercion and eliminate cigarettes. Instead, make a useful and better replacement.

Then make higher takes on cigarettse. It would benefit the goverment and less people would buy them because they're more expensive.

I believe that people should know better than to smoke cigarettes. I personally know several people who have died from cancer, and have asthma. When the population starts noticing people dieing from lung cancer, then perhaps the legacy will end.
Marijuana, on the other hand, I'm for. I live in Alaska, and we have a reputation in our town for being major potheads. I myself have gotten high on a few occasions, and have experienced relaxation beyond belief. (I got high while getting a massage) People that over use marijuana also don't become angry, like drunks and cigarette smokers. Over all, it's a much better substitute.

The way to beat smoking is through education, starting at an early age. Because it can't be done with our current legal system.

On the other hand, I don't really care if I die at 80 rather than 90. Who wants to be 90 anyway? Sure, it's disgusting, but even smokers should be able to make a choice as to whether or not to continue, even if they know full well the consequences.

When I was a 4th Grader, I learned all about lungs in science, plus it shows when you smoke and changes the lungs color, it's very awful and burnt black than peachy lungs. Smoke makes you cough a lot of times and may have a short time to live when you smoke everyday

I think that the government should rase the taxes on somking so much that all the smokers will be guys living on the streets. Also, that would put smoking companies out of business and then-- VOLIA-- problem solved!!

I don't get it. You pay to kill yourself. That would be a sin for Christian people, because you kill yourself by smoking because you KNOW it would kill you and it's suicide. I don't hate people who smoke, because even if they smoke, there are some nice people...
