I just got staredit and I like to make maps but frankly I suck at making them. I learn fast so if there is anyone who has any help they could give me that would be great. Thanks.

If you learn fast use the editors... I suggest you get Xtra because it has easyer triggers to understand and has a built in HELP feature... You can click on that and teach yourself triggers...

Also you can come here and look at the tutorials and such to get tricks to make your maps look better...

I dont quite think this is the right forum. If you're making melee maps, there is a little guide Entropy made in the melee map making and assistance forum (where I'm moving this.

Ok here are my suggestions for beginner map makers:

1. Download starforge for terraining
2. Download SCXE for triggers
3. Make sure maps are neatly spaced
4. Make sure your map has a good story

ok, umm, puni,
1.you dont need starforge for melee maps
2.you cant use triggers in melee maps
3.what do you mean by story?

ok heres some pointers:
make the areas where players start even amounts of terrain, use all kinds of terrain, dont just use dirt and high dirt. in the main bases, make 7 or 8 mineral patches which have 1500 minerals in them. make a geyser which has 5000 in it.
make expansions. you know what i mean by expansions right? Make some with 5 mineral patches or some just with gas, or some with both. make expansions that need to be fought over. make doodads so people can take cover when microing. because a unit has a 75%(i think, something like that) chance of dodging. this info will be nice help for you to start off. good luck, make a few maps and post them in the melee showcase and we can help you improve them.

ADDITION:
BTW, welcome to SEN biggrin.gif

Puni was talking about UMS maps. We don't even know which one he/she needs help on until he/she clarifies.

Welcome to SEN.

so. You know what UMS is right? use map settings. So which one do you need help on? Melee or Use Map settings.

Yeah, and also, get the editors that the other people posted above. However, Staredit is fine. I used it until like I first arrived at SEN.
For UMS, I'd say mastering each trigger values, is the number one step.
For Melee, Balance. But to me, melee mapping seems very tedius.
