What the world be like in another dark age? Education in America has constantly been decreasing showing that we are producing stupid people. I say, I like video games but I do not go home and do it for 12 hours at a time or think about only doing that when I am supoosed to be learning in school. If teachers don't stop worring about getting there kids passing instead of acutually getting them interested and learning then the U.S. is just going to plumet. Would you rather have a sanatary worker or a genius running the country. It all depends on education, without we got nothing. How are we supposed to win wars if we have to use the same old strategies. How are we supposed to protect our country if we don't make technological advances. I think teachers should worry more about making sure their students are learning the curiculum. Not how to pass and get out of school. So if you are still in school ask yourself"do I pay atention in class"and"Am I really learning anything." Thankyou for your time.
There are countries that put a lot of emphasis on education. One of which I believe is Japan.
Compare the suicide rates. Although I support a more aggressive educational system (one where I can't fly through 10 years easily like I did), it'll take a lot of reform, and a lot of time.
Anyone read GTO? Sure, it's a graphic novel (yay anime freaks!); it's about a teacher who does things a bit unorthodox. A very interesting read.
Yea. That's definately flaming.
All our leaders are intelligent.
There is a difference between wisdom and knowledge.
Long story short: stop flaming or else your warn level'll change
k thx bye
Well, first of all, I seem to be learning more then my classmates, and I do do what you described; go home and play 12 hours of games, though it probably helps that much of it is cartoon reading, thinking about triggers, and forums.
In my school, they're getting a bit closer. Some of the teachers are saying, "Screw homework, if you show you've learned what we've taught you, then you pass."
America producing dump people?? I geuss thats why theres so much compition to get into colleges....
I go to a really hard school, so Im naturally smart even if I get b's. I heard inner city schools aren't as good as rural/suburban schools.
I get good grades (A- was my worst grade) so i feal special. Really, I think the no child left behind act was not good. That is because it makes a lot of standardized tests. It makes it so teachers don't care about people like me. I will pass it so they don't Really care about me. They spend all their time on the stupid people

.
It mostly just makes people all the same. It makes the smart people stay the same and the stupid people get smarter.
When I went to China for a month to visit relatives, my cousin had to go to school for like, 10 hours(3 hour study hall at night) for 6 days a week(Mon-Sat). Also, my 4 year old cousin has to learn a type of chinese chess at such a young age to sharpen their logic skillz. You also need a test just to pass 1st grade! In the U.S, ew don't even need a test to pass 8th grade, so if anyone says you get too much homework or has to go to school for so long, compare youself to other countries who take school so seriously or don't even get school at all, you'd be considered lucky.

Oh, and yea, the California education system(there, ya happy devilesk?) should be a little bit tougher, but not too much.

Also my school stopped doing advanced S.S. and English for a few grades (mine.) It is strange though cause I have a good S.S. and English teacher so I don't find that boring, but I think that "advanced" math is boring (could be because its my best subject

.)

And grades mean jack crap, as far as I'm concerned.
Personally, I'm more intelligent then most of the people at the school I go to- including those that have better grades then me. It's the ability to put up with mindless repetition and doing assignments that are practicaly identical to ones you've done the last four days and to stand having anything to do with the crap after having it hammered into your head over the span of five weeks, not intelligence.
I don't think its the system its just the kids, hey if they want to be idiots and not learn anything they will be screwing themselves in life. As for myself I'm learning just fine.
And how can you make comments about the whole US, have you seen every school in America? I don't see any facts supporting your statement.
If i would have done ALL my homework I wouldn't have time to sleep.
I feel stupid now sorry. I did not think about all the schools in america. Atleast the Glynn county School system does not have that many Great teachers. Sorry once again.
Heh. I do NONE of my homework until the morning at school. And for some odd reason, I have one of the highest marks in the grade. I got in the 97th percentile on the PSAT. Heck, I hardly do any work at all. But still, I learn. I listen in class (when I'm not asleep, but that's just my problem). I am personally motivataed to learn, to understand. Heck, a few of my classes are almost just a big debate. But I think that's what it boils down to - motivation. Many people these days aren't motivated to learn. Sure, you can force a kid to do hours after hours of homework, but if he isn't motivated to work at all, he ain't gonna learn shit.
Ya thats the problem in my school. In math every one is complaining how the test was hard and that they studied, but then they always are basically yelling across the room during class and when they are yelled at, they ask what they did wrong.
