Staredit Network -> Terrain -> Boat of Bridge Tiles
Report, edit, etc...Posted by PearS on 2005-03-07 at 21:58:14
I'm having a boat cutscene in my next RPG and I want to make a boat out of bridge terrain. I'm having problems though and I can't seem to get a couple of the corners right. Any tips?

Oh i'm having trouble posting the images. I'll mess with it. Sorry for posting without the pics =/.

Ok I had a friend convert them for me (Thanks Dark2004!)

I would help, but I am staying at a house with only a mac this week. disgust.gif Nothing I can do but suggestions and opinions. I would suggest looking for round cliff parts, or using parts from the temple in the water, so it doesn't look square.

I'm not looking to round it off, I am just looking to make the corners perfect. It would look a lot better rounded off but I think that is out of my league at the moment lol. (This is my first dab into the Starforge terrain).

I hate to release information early, But in my RPG that turtlegod(MC) handed down to me, I've created pirate ships as the player's battle system arena.

Just so you don't steal the credit of my first idea of pirate ships here are some pics.

But What I don't like about the ship that it's stuck on the water

Well that's what the ship is like when you're on it.

You see it's a battle cruiser in the World map of the game. but when you board it you goto that, then in that temple thing above the stairs is the cabin. where the helm is then you pilot it and it goes back to the BC and you control it.

By your use of sprites I assume that every corner cannot be done perfectly with bridge terrain.

You assumed correct, but it's not that bad without sprites, i just don't have a screen shot.

I blended things pretty well.

If you will give me the map i will make the corners complete perfect. One note it may be a little longer in length.

TurtleBoy alredy almost perfected the pirate ship when he was making a Pirate RPG... Dont know what happened to it...
It was over a month or more ago...

Not your idea anyway...
He used sprites for the mast and extended the back and put stairs up to make it look like the part of the ship with the wheel

You might want to refer back to TurtleGod(MC)'s thread about his Pirate's Life RPG. He had a ship in that map that was awesome. I believe he had a screenshot of it in the thread actually.

There were a lot of other good ideas in that map too, I was suprised when he dropped it.

That ship...is horrible. The mast idea is cool but its blocky as hell.
