Staredit Network -> UMS Production -> OutPost
Report, edit, etc...Posted by Staredit.Net Essence on 2005-03-08 at 19:14:14
I know people are sick and tired of seeing bounds being produced by clan Oo, althought they kick ass. I am working on a map called OutPost. THe basic idea is..

-You controll an outpost you get war machines
-You can kill some1s outpost and gain controll of it.
-Object: Destroy opponents TowER.
-You can only gain controll of an OutPost by bringing a certain unit near it.
-If this unit dies it is respawned in 5 seconds.

I think this will be a hit once it gets on b.net, *crosses fingers*

I may not fully understand your concept here, but what makes this different from Zone Control? (I'm not trying to sound mean, I just don't completely get it)

I can see how you may get it confused with zone controll, I can say right now they are not the same. I don't want to give too much information about this map, but i can assure you it is original. You'll haveto wait and c, lol smile.gif

I've seen maps like this, though all have been buggy as hell. Good luck with yours.

I tested this, and it isn't like Zone Control. Its pretty fun so far, with the exception of a small unplaceablw warning... pinch.gif

Thanks for that shameless promotion. tongue.gif

So how much more have you added, Hydra? Do the teams have more zones they can control yet? Also i noticed some were on the hilltops, but what would be the point of that if the goal is to go to the top and bottom of the maps, nowhere near the hills?
Report, edit, etc...Posted by Staredit.Net Essence on 2005-03-09 at 22:37:40
To answer your questions the hills are just meant to add some variety. if the whole map was on a flat surface it would be kind of boring, anyways it is meant to be a battle field with hills, etc..

-All the outposts(16) can be accuired by players 1-3
-All outposts(16) can become neutral for players 1-3

:All thats left to do is, triggers for p4 and creation of WarMachines. (may give me some trouble.) Stupid waits -.- O ya, lets not forget p12 triggs. tongue.gif

Corbo, I don't have any (brood war only) units present on the map, so I see no reason why it isn't playable with regular starcraft.. and get the expansion, wtf.. The games been out for 8 years, and you still have original. tongue.gif tongue.gif lol.. smile.gif

Just make sure the exceptional parts of terrain are balanced so they don't favor anyone too much... For example if someone spawned right by the higher-terrain hill area and got a bunch of tanks, they would have an early advantage.

I'm just wondering, but did you get this idea off Star Wars: Clone Wars conquest? It sounds exactly like it is the same thing... If you did get the idea there say so in the title or at least somewhere.

Anyway, sounds like a great map. It is realy fun playing it on Clone Wars. Are the machines that spawn under your control or a computers control? You could make them under the computer's control and have controls to control them: i.e. attack, hold, defend outpost, and defend base. You could also make bunkers or something that you have to biuld before turrets. confused.gif
Keep up the good work!

Okay for clarification, here's how this map works:
There are two teams in a top vs bottom maych. They start with 1 vulture per player. When a vulture goes near any bunker (Outpost) on the map, the bunker will belong to that player and will produce War Machines (Goliaths). The player can then use those Goliaths to attack the other team.

If a player's bunker is destroyed, the bunker becomes neutral and can be claimed by the player again (or any player for that matter).

Note: Any player can control any unused outpost on the map at any time (including ones in the enemy base).

Yay I got it right tongue.gif. Anyway, sounds great, and you might want to point out that it is best with four people (at least it is on Clone Wars.) With two people it is kind of slow, and all it is is capturing propertys. Also, you could try to have the two teams like two races i.e. one is terran the way it is and the other is protoss with zelots for the scout (with the leg upgrade) and dragoons for the war machine. You could also have two units for your main unit (one fast, one powerful.) You could have the terran one as siege tank and the protoss one as a rever. You can switch when you die (you step on one beacon or the other.) I know this may be a little late, so I understand why if you don't do it, its just an idea.
Don't give up. tongue.gif

Although that may have been better, I don't think It woulda ultimately made a difference, I spent the majority of this maps life figuring out how to do the triggers. Now That I have figured them out and am happy with how to cunduct them, I don't think I Will be chnaging anything. But, As I said be4 theres nothing wrong with suggestions. happy.gif
