Do you think playing video games and playing computer games contribute to people being fat?

I do... Video games made me fat... Took my time away from playing sports and such...

I play video games all day long and I'm not fat. I would guess it's mostly genetics that determine if you will become fat from doing nothing all day.
I'm also skinny and play all the time.
You can be genetically predisposed to being fat.
If you don't excrecise, you might get fat or just because of your genes.
Personally I'm not fat but that's because I got paintballing every other day pretty much.
Ok... Let me specify even more... When it's on a weekend, and my mom ain't at home (I'm only 14!!!), I can be on the computer for 8+ hours STRAIGHT... Once I even played for 13 hours STRAIGHT... And I probably bet when you say all day, you mean 1-3 hours... And I spend the who day after I get back home from school, either doing homework and studying, watching television, or go on the computer. Video games are so addicting, I can't lay off the stuff! Someone give me suggestions on how to at least make me stop a bit...

No, I really meant all day. I didn't even leave my house the entire weekend.
I say when your young it doesn't really make that much of a difference but when you beocme older, 21 and up, you probably will get fat because your metabolism slows down and stuff like that.

On the weekends, I'm on all day.
And I don't mean, as you said, 1-3 hours. I mean anywhere from 12-20 hours. 8+ hours isn't much. Over the summer, my average sleep per day, last year, was a couple hours(2). I spent almost the entire summer playing on my computer.
Anyways, I'm not obese, but I am fat, and it started a little before I started using my computer about 24/7.
the video games do not make us grow bigger, I often play the video games and I am of a sizeable size those which are large and say that it is the fault of the video games it is quite simply because they do not even do one can of exercise and puffs out 100% only fast food. and of our day, there are accessories for our consoles which makes us make exercise like the carpet of dance.

No, because you would grow fat from inactivity, then get slimmed out for not eating enough.
Personally? No. I log about 6 hours of computer time a day, sometimes more, sometimes less. Heck, I'm underweight. I'm one of the weakest guys at school, but I do eat about the average amount of food everybody else eats.
Here's how I got unaddicted to videogames. Tell your parents to get or borrow a safe and lock your comp up in it. Then lock up any other videogames in it and make sure they don't tell you the combo or they keep the keys with them at all times.
Another thing. Whenever I say I can play videogames all day I don't mean 1-3 hours, I mean 4-10 hours.
Anyways back to the thingy. Don't go to friends houses with videogames and try to get your friends to pick up a good sport like paintball, which in my opinion is more addictive than videogames

i think that video games doesn't make u fat depending if u playing constant or not but if you are eating junk food yea. and sometimes u need to get some fresh air.
No. Video games don't make you fat. Eating shit and not exersising makes you fat. Don't eat fast food all day and then blame your inability to walk away from the computer on your obesity. Here's what you can do. Go out with some friends you know personally, wherever. Develop will power, don't spend your whole day at the computer if you have something better to do, it's not healthy. Playing for 13 hours strait... more than once a month is rediculous... maybe if you're in some kind of tournement or w/e but don't just spend all day staring at a light bulb. If you're playing 8 hours a day move to korea and go pro XD. If it's not your job you shouldn't be on that often, no exceptions.
In short, you'll want to hang out with friends you know personnaly more than playing on the computer. I don't know how your social life is but you should try to get out at least once a week.
Sorry if this sounds harsh, redundant and or worthless but that's my opinion on the matter.
Being lazy contributes to being fat. I've played sports my entire life so I've always been in good shape. I'm in the army now which keeps me in shape now.

That's impossible for the weak-willed like myself. My one big weakness is computers. I need to use them for my work, but I end up playing games and posting on these forums!
ARGH!
At least I'm thin.
Reason for being fat: Lack of exercise!!!!!
It's your own fault. Always. Don't blame anything else. Unless you're crippled and can't exercise. Video games, fast food, other people, just you. Exercise!!!
I sit in my room (now) on my computer for at least 6 hours or in my basement for 6 hours... I am not fat...
I do weigh 160 but that is because I am tall and muscle weighs more than fat
I'm quite thin actually. It really depends on what you eat and what exerciseyou get. I play Pump it Up (Korean ver of DDR) a lot and so I get proper exercise

There is not just food and the physical activity there are also the genetics and the heredity which can make that one is large.
I just want to say that i eat a whole bunch and have a lot of homework(usually) and dont usually spend time outside. When i do go outside though, i usually work real hard so i guess it just balances out.
P.S. I am decently skinney but underweight
It's not so much playing the game, it's how you act. If the energy consumption is greater than the energy used, you get "fat". So if you are mostly inactive, you will usually get "fat". But some people need more energy to do actions than others.
I also just want to point this out, it's not a matter of being "full" or "hungry", it's a matter of getting the right ammount of energy that you need.
When your energy reserves run out, your body will use "fat" as an alternate source of "fuel", just like it converts energy to fat when you consume too much.

You hear that people? If you are sitting at your comp and starving yourself that solves the mystery to why you are skinny.

Most of the time I'm out wit my friends and in the summer im playing basketball outside all day so I don't think I'm gonna get fat anytime soon, I guess it could happen if i stayed on comp all day.
