Since this topic has bridges in the title i figure it's a good place to show this destroyed bridge. It could be made better I know, but it gets the idea across.
Also, I just noticed this new terrain section (yea I've been away for a while) and was wondering if my old post on terrain could be moved in here. It had a lot of good pictures and I'm pretty sure it was the first post that got people talking about terrain so extensively.
Can some admin give it the respect it deserves and bring it home

A problem with a destroyed bridge such as that is that terrain cannot be edited in any way during run time. During design time you can make it look cool, but you have to move to another section of the map that looks identical except for a change such as that to make the change from a destroyed bridge to a real bridge, or vice versa. I think you overused sprites a bit too, but it looks decent. 6/10.
This really deserves it's own topic.
Very nice, btw. I especially like how you used underwater rocks to expand on the rubble, most people wouldn't have thought of that. Hall of fame worth, I would say.
Yes, this is very good looking. Mind if I use it in an RPG?

I love the idea!
And the design isn't half bad.

IF the bridge is just for looks it is a great idea. However if you are to include it into a map it would be impossible. Using sprites to form a breakness means that it can't be made into a regular bridge nor torn apart into that without having a exact replaca in the same exact position (Sort of like Bolt's Elevator effect on house of the haunted). It would still be a hard project. Seems more like just to show off in a map as a doodad not as a way fo getting across water after a certain goal has been riched. I must say it is original, but however you repeated too much on using the same rock sprite. Next time try using a combination.
Who the hell told you that the bridge has to break?!
The bridge can be broken the full map -.-"
Brilliant Dabbu, I really like it

I made a couple in twilight. I think the second looks better, it also takes up less sprites.
[attachmentid=6458][attachmentid=6459]
Map: [attachmentid=6460]
This is extremely creative... good job!
I like that twilight bridge! but wont the building rubble go away after some time?
Also, Faz- and Mp)3D I meant for this to be destroyed for the entire map, and it would add to the history of the story, like "there was a war long ago, this dridge used to lead to the forbiden lands of <fictatious name>" or whatever...
And yes, if you make a complete replica of that section of the map, you could rebuild or destoy the bridge as many times as you want.

I dont get it... He makes a brilliant bridge and you guys flame it. Its the first of its kind, it looks real and he did a great job. 10/10. Its new, innovative and LOOKS GOOD.

I'm pretty sure the pre-placed destroyed building sprites don't go away.

Yes they do go away, just tested.

They're just gealous

Heheh, so when it goes away it will leave behind a blocky, cut in half bridge?
Wow nice, very nice. Prefer the first ones to the twilight bridges. The rubble on the twilight bridges doesn't look like the same material as the bridge, but you're probably never going to get it perfect, so nice job!
I personally think that it looks horrible, but it is a new idea so I feel it is a 6/10. The base of a pillar sprite just seems way out of place. Perhaps if you used the squareness of base terrain and made it look as if it was broken into that shape it would look better to me. As of now though, none of the bridges look realistically destroyed to me.
Realistically destroyed? This is Starcraft we're talking about. A bridge can be destroyed in any number of bizarre and demented ways.
Personally, I don't like it that much. It's way too sprite intensive and Idk, I just don't like it.
I'll give you the benefit of the doubt it's original.

Yeah but gosh it takes forever. I guess you would just have to use the first method ... which doesn't look all that bad at all.
Looks great. It would be even better if ther was a non-sprite way to do it.
Thats so easy to make! god all there is to do is make the bridge, then cut it in half then put

load of rock sprites......
It does not matter if it is easy to make. It is whoever though of it first and perfected it to look realistic.
You could destroy it with triggers. Simply made a trigger that causes an explosion, and moves a bunch of floor traps onto the bridge. Then just wall it off with DTs, and then you can have it progressively break more and more. Not sure if it'll look great, but it'll work. Well, might not. Ah screw it, your idea's pretty good, just needs better execution.
I'm pretty sure that moving the traps won't work. Either, I forget you cannot move traps at all or that it will not cover up the edges of the bridge because you cannot make things there. And I don't think if you actually manage to get traps ont he bridge that it will look nice because it would look weird with some blue water then some dark blue stuff in the middle.
Yeah, I know. My idea wasn't tested or really well thought out, just concepts.
