Ok there is many reasons for and against America's involvment in the Middle East. Just for you guys to know, when I say Middle East, Im not jsut talking about Iraq, Im talking about the whole entire Middle East. The Afghan War I believe is a justified war that is not bad WHAT SO EVER. Iraq war is very sketchy, but I do believe now that it is justified becuase of this, One reason the Iraq war is OK, that link shows you how many people Saddam has killed and such over the years till he was captured. It also shows how many lives have been saved by America being there (look in the top left corner of page). Now thats just ONE reason. Thoughts please...

I'll have a look at the arguments for and against American involvement in the Middle-East (particularly Iraq), and I will try to do it in an objective way:
FOR:
- Saddam's regime was oppressive and, in some cases, genocidal.
- Iraq may have possessed WMDs, or the capability to produce them.
- Iraq posed a threat to neighbouring nations.
- We can install a potentially free democratic system in Iraq.
AGAINST:
- One of the main motives for going into Iraq was the need to secure a future supply of oil.
- Iraq had no WMDs when the country was inspected post-war.
- A large number of Iraqi civilians and American soldiers have been killed in the blaze of insurgency following the war.
- Iraq may just degenerate into a dictatorship again.
- The war was an excuse to create an American satellite-state in the Middle-East (apart from Israel), and so strengthen America's position there.
Thos aren't my opinions - they are just arguments that have been put forward.
FOR:

Heres a thought, I watched the history channel last week (forgot what day, I will check the historychannel website for the show) and on the history channel was a show about Armys for buy -- aka Mercenaries. They talked about how some of the people who were kidnapped in Iraq were actually mercenaries hired by the United States. Also that a lot of mercenaries are in Iraq right now, working side by side with American Soldiers.

Ah, I'd like to add that America has spent trillions of dollars in the 3.5 or so years that the war on terror has been waged. Those are trillions of dollars that we don't really have the capability to spend right now.

why do human rights activists hate bush??
bush has SAVED lives.
oh ya, its all about the money, isnt it?
oil.... why does bush want oil??? he is pushing for nuclear power!
and, if he wanted oil soo badly, the prices wouldnt be choking us..... damn muslims... they are jacking the prices up! and some of our damn gas companies!
the world needs hydrogen and nuclear powered vehicles, and power plants.... imagine a nuclear car??? a pellet can power as much as 700 pounds of coal.... hows that for clean? and your peoples "MONEY". oh, and coal mines have killed thousands of people..... the nuclear has killed how many? (inside the us) oh, and the soviet union built their reactors differently than the us does, and they hire lazy slobs that do nothing.
back to the ME... why is it a bad thing that we get more settled into the middle east?
oh, and why did the muslims attack isreal after it was made??? because... isreal was there before the muslims, and the UN rebuilt the place, not jews.
