Staredit Network -> Terrain -> Small Piece of Terrain
Report, edit, etc...Posted by BeeR_KeG on 2005-03-27 at 12:21:08
The piece of Terrain I did was the ramp, backwards pass, Cliffs to the right and left of the ramp.

This is a small piece of terrain I did for a friend of mine. It was done with limited space so I only had several spaces of tiles with which to work with.

Sprite count is 5 I think.

i think it looks pretty decent for the amount of space you had. you blended the right part of the ramp nicely with the cliff wall.

I like it. It's very small but very nice and detailed. Good job!

In some ways it looks impossible... but it was nice for such a little spot.. Keep up the good work!

Wow is this you first? good job, If I'm correct you did that backwards ramp, besides that there's alot of blockiness in that screenie. From the high dirt to dirt along the bottom. Nice job anyway happy.gif.

What I especially like about it is the amount of efficiency put into it. A pretty decent piece of terrain if you ask me.

What I especially like is that temple doodad which I made. I tried making it a cliff that would turn into a V when looked from above but there just weren't any tiles that matched on the next column of tiles next to it. I would've needed an extra row or two to accomplish that. I decided to put a column but it was too small so I blended those two.

The other area is quite nice but I'm not that proud about it because I ran out of space. It's quite imposible to make a cliff blen to a ramp and high ground and then make it lower so it blends with the lower cliff next to it. I only had about 3x3 tiles in which I could work with in that area, I only couldn't do 1 in which I placed a tree sprite which covered it up nicely.

I personally prefer pices of terrain that know how to efficiently use space than the one using many tiles just to get the same effect.

No that is not my first job and I don't know how you would've seen my backwards ramp since I never did release it except to a couple of people privately.

The bottom doesn't really count, all that was already there. The temple terrain is supposed to be bridge tiles but I accidentally put the ramp there and kept workign so I couldn't Undo the work. I the put temple terrain to make it look natural.

That line of blockines doesn't really count since it's imposible to make it blen from cliff to ramp in just 1 tile. And that also doesn't count because thats not my work and my friend will fix that in his map. All I did was the ramp and the Cliff surrounding it in a limited amount of space with only 5 sprites and very few blockyness.

If you want, I'll post one without the sprites.

This is like combining a bunch of ideas into a small space. I think it's great! But the map revealer looks a little out of place there. smile.gif And I would like to see this without sprites.

I think not...

There we go no sprites.

There was no Tile in which I could do that because I had run out of space. If I blended at the left side the tiles next to ramp would've been out of place.

I preffer having blockyness at the outside areas than the insides.

That Map Revealer was already there and is part of my friend's map.
