Another spontaneous idea. I'm in the mood for these right now for some reason, though I probably should know better and finish my hordes of other maps instead. I don't think it'd take long to make though (or someone else to make it, if they want).

Well should I?

wow.. a Katamari Damacy map? Sounds kinda weird for a Starcraft map. Tell me more about it, do you just move to buildings and they die and after a certain amount of buildings you get a bigger unit and you have to get a certain amount of buildings to win or what?

Well what I had in mind is that your katamari is an observer at the start (no speed upgrade). You move it around the parts of the level you can get to (high ground and blocking terrain are off limits while the katamari is small) and "pick up" units that you come across. Small powerups and zerg units will be all you can get at first, then larger things like infantry, tanks, buildings, etc. As you "pick up" units, they disappear and you get an air unit that follows your observer around constantly. The more units you pick up, the larger the mass of air units that follow you, and the larger your katamari becomes. When you get large enough, you can get to places you couldn't before, like high terrain, water, etc, and pick up units you couldn't pick up before (such as tanks, buildings, etc.).

The largest katamari by the end of the timer wins.

OMG, my favorite game in my life, if you wouldn't mind, I'd take up this map solo, I can sorta picture a gameplay, and a multiplayer mode, but how it will work is sorta blocky, Which i'm sure you have an idea in mind. Katamari Damacy is my favorite japanese game, But the gayness in it freaks me out. The king is like completely gay. But i can see this being a starcraft map, starting as picking up people... and rolling around until you pick up buildings... omg this would be the greatest..

EDIT: nvm i just read your previous post, sound great. I would make this map so great.. it even sounds fun already. If you don't mind We could maybe work on it aside of Alchemists which has been at a halt, And i know you still have to finish your other project you just PMed me about.

EDIT, Again: Do you mind if i throw up a little map of what your idea might look at, since you might be busy and all? LOL ROYAL RAINBOW!

Also what is the ball name? is it a katamari?


LATER EDIT: Okay i played with the edit and got this, it's just a concept but already it's fun biggrin.gif. Anyway since it's easter sunday, i only had time to make a pickup for ghosts marines and vultures.. And a boundary for marines. So if you're not big enough fo marines you get bumped back some some of your ball dies.

i think i saw something about this game on techtv and it looked fun, the starcraft map sounds really fun and ny... ya...

I actually thought of this concept when I first bought the game, the concept didn't work out (My idea not yours, yours is better.) and I gave up. I used an archon as the katamari and a scout as the prince, the scout moves around with the archons following the scout by issue order, so the archon might get stuck if it isn't big enough, if it is it will suck it up and the more you suck up the more archons appear. But as you can see there are a lot of problems with it. Creating a simulation of a unique game like this is hard.

Bugs:
you can go through the wall by going to the top of it and moving down constantly, for some reason, sometimes you location just stops centering around you and all of u guys get stuck

I know i probably threw it together in a minute, max. But if i were to make the map, which i havent gotten reply from Tux, i would probably start over since the system i used wasnt very succesful.

Sorry, just been busy and I decided not to goof off and sidetrack on another weirdo map idea (like I usually do). I'll post what I've done so far, and you can go ahead and finish it as you like. Ask me any questions you have.
