Staredit Network -> StarForge -> Error finding data files
Report, edit, etc...Posted by AreoC on 2005-03-30 at 06:49:39
I just re-installed Starforge and after I get the "this is your first time" message, I get a message that says "StarForge could not locate the nessessary data files. Please try to search for them yourself. You will be asked to find any .lst, .dat, or .sfb file inside the data folder."

A window opened with the Data folder and all the .lst, .dat, and .sfb's in it. Whenever I select any of the data files, the same error message pops back up.

If i hit cancel a few times, starforge opens, but I get a Runtime Error '53' if I try to open any map, or create a new map, starforge crashes. Help?

You are probably picking a data file from the older installation. Either find a data file from the newer version, or follow the "clean install" instructions in the troubleshooting thread.

Whoever installed it may have done it wrong.

If you absolutely can't get it to work following the instructions in the troubleshooting thread, message me on MSN (starforge_feeback@hotmail.com) and I'll get it working via remote assistance.

I believe SF doesn't work with nonadmin user accounts...
