Hello, I have some cool random techniuques and idea's you can use for your maps.
[3 layer Feekback Sprite effect]
This sprite looks really nice at startup of your map, stacking the 3 sprites (feed back large, medium, and small) on top of eachother makes it look like 3 orange balls of fire spireling into an explosion like ball. (looks really neet!)
[Unit Switches]
- Casting distruption webs, darkswarms, and scanner sweeps for over a location to trigger something -- and then removeing the spell after it been cast, you wont even see it! (note: the spells cast are owned by player 12)
- Peon building different buildings to a location (no build time) to trigger different events for each different building -- and removeing that building after it been built so fast you wont even see it!
- Hangar units being built to trigger things such as building a Nuclear missile to trigger something. Building interceptors or scarabs to trigger something and then building more to trigger once a certain number of units in the hangar are built.
- Unburrowing a unit that gets killed by a computer to trigger something (then re-creating that unit as burrowed to use the switch again) -- works good for Music On/off switching to toggle a switch.
- Unloading a bunker with 4 different units in it, each different unit triggering something different. (then re-loading the bunker back to make the unit re-useable or removeing/killing the unit to make it used only once)
- Unloading a drop ship (same idea with the bunker but with bigger space) -- seen in the game called worms.
- Uncloaking a unit to be killed by a computer (same idea as the unborrowing)
- Putting unit in seige mode or out of seiege mode to trigger an event, maybe a different event at a different location when put in seiege mode
- Haveing infested terrain comit suicide (attacking the ground blow themselves up) to trigger an event, maybe a differnet event when it dies at a different location.
[Resetting your map instead of Re-making the game]
- Maybe make a switch that player one could use to Restart the bound instead of re-makeing the game.
I suggest useing the Infested terrain suicide for this one.
[Add some Excitement to your maps]
- If you got allot of switches left over that your not useing, maybe you can make abunch of your switches make toggle into something random, and once like 20 of your switches are toggled to a certain thing, like if all 20 are toggled to Set, which is really unlikely to happen but is possible it will do something that no one has seen before. Wouldnt that be cool if all of a sudden your playing a UMS game that you been playing over and over again and again that all of a sudden something so random happens and the game tottally changes into something really bizzare! you would be like what the hell!
[Adding some secrets into your maps]
- Maybe have some secret locations in your maps that only you know, and when you play your maps it will have a trigger that will maybe display a message saying <the creator is here! and allow you to use some special feuteres for your maps, mabe a Auto-Pilot that plays for you (good for bounds) that makes you look really good when its the computer doing it for you)
[Makeing your map unique]
- Useing glowing wireframes, and disables terrain buildings on fire, and abunch of other wierd things are all nice and all, but you need to make something about your map that is very unique and will get known for, so maybe people will be refering it to as... "you know that one bound map, that plays the song 'Another one bytes the dust!' evertime you die!" ... "oohhhhh yea, that one was cool!" btw that map is called unknown bound II. You need something that stands out, you want the beginning of your map to be really cool looking with unique ideas, because not everyone gets to the end of your maps and wont see all your unique ideas and hardwork. Of course, you need some unique and cool things at the ends of your maps too. Like in twisted bound where you have to kill the giant egg (i think it was).
Errrr, I got tons of ideas but I can't write them all down, they just come to me at random.
