I dont think the Map reviews should be just limited to a few of us; i think it should be something where anyone can submit a review over any map in the dldb.

Make it work sort of like the DLDB and Tutorials; let there be 1 or 2 "map reviews keepers" incharge of the map reviews and when someone submits a map review, they can go through the content, make sure it meets all requirements and is logical, and then be ready to be displayed.

And maybe let there be some sort of thing where the maker of the map that's going to be reviewed approve of it?

I think map reviews should be limited to a group of people who we can trust to make an accurate and fair review of the map and map ratings should be open to the public for anyone to vote on. Or in other words, how it is now.

Well then, when someone submits a review, a couple of us can look it over, make sure it's good, accurate, and fair. Because i've seen many people out there with great potentials of making good reviews

Wouldn't that force to play all the maps? Since how would you know he's being logical if you've never played the map? But I'm assuming you mean coherent sentence and grammar and spacing, typical writing that would be easy on the eyes. I wouldn't mind being one of those guys to look over reviews. =/

I'm planning on making the comments system in the DLDB more like a review thing, where you rate individual aspects, comment on what you liked and didn't like, and the author can respond to your comment (it will be placed right beside).

You should make it more like Newgrounds where people can actually vote a map out of the DLDB.

Wouldn't be that kind of cruel to a map maker who submitted his best work then people vote it out? It'd certainly piss me off

Well if you go to Newgrounds, only COMPLETE CRAP gets voted out. So I would only suggest adding that feature if you let maps go through without pre-approval.

It already takes everything to rate a single lil map right now =/

You give people essentive to voting and they will vote more often. At newgrounds, your ranking is based off of a number of things, including voting.

We do it manually anyways, mostly because there is no automatic minimap screenshot thingy (I'm planning on investigating for the future, but for now I can't) and more. The hand-picked maps is what makes this downloads database one of the best, because its not filled with total crap.

If the map is complete crap, I don't think it'll get approved by us in the first place.

Yoshi, I remember asking you to code something that would blast everything 3 or below out of the DLDB a really long time ago. It was before v4... Do you know if that's still in there?

Would the auther somehow be notified that someone has posted something there?


Lets say you have 20 people on here that hate you. All it will take is 5 to give your map a bad rating purely because they hate you and they haven't even bothered to take a look at the map, when your map is just as, if not better, than tux's A&O trailer. (And that map was really uber!)

ADDITION:

Well, if they are good, why not PM Yoshi and/or IP, or whoever is in charge of putting people in place for the map reviews, and getting that person to add the other people?
