the "PERFECT TERRAIN" was supposed to be an april fools joke but nobody got it...
anyway heres the terrain that i was REALLY workin on the past few weeks:
0 sprites, 0 effects, just terrain,
http://www.geocities.com/glytchur/lavafall1.jpgi hope the link works, the picture was too big to post it as an attachment for some reason...
Wow! That looks exaclty like a valcano waterfall or whatever! I can't see any blockyness, and it even looks like its splashes a little at the bottum! Very good job.
Just say you in the shout box. Really gj!
Thats very nice. It even gives the right perspective, showing the actual way the lava falls, and the edges at the top and bottom give it even more of a perspective. Very nice work.
I like it, even w/o sprites its way good

Thats nice.
Good job

.
(Can't say much but that it looks good

)
its ok but not the greatest. the right side doesnt match up with the left at all. it seems like the left side if on something and the right wall just goes all the way down.
I don't know dude, I'm not sure that I like it. It sort of looks too basic and needs a bit more to it.
As much time as i can see spent into this, with the perfect blending and all, This looks somewhat plain, like normal people wouldn't realize it has triple cliffs, its low dirt to low dirt instead of high dirt. or how much time you spent making it look perfect.
Its pretty good! I dont see any blockiness and there arent any sprites. That looks good. Theres just a problem. It doesnt look much like a lava waterfall flowing thing...

That lava is rock and it doesnt look real cuz hard rock doesnt flow down a waterfall! It looks like dried up lava... But GJ anyway. Thats the best possible for a lava fall!

fortune yur right it does look dull i realized that after i made it and i tried to make it look better with sprites but nothing really looked good...
and trigga i started this right after i posted the massive cliff thing, i was workin on it and then forgot about it and then started it again. it took me so long because its the first thing ive EVER done of ashworld tileset so i had to get used to the palette...
That was the worst April Fools Joke I saw today. And I saw some pretty bad ones.
Looks good! At first I didn't realize what it was, but I think some explosions at the bottom or something might make it alittle more obvious.
I didn't see any blocky tiles (worth mentioning).
This is what I just thought up: Why don't you use mutalisks dying for splashes. Gimme credit if u use this idea (If it's my idea) cuz I'm gonna use this for one of my maps!
Okay go ahead and use overlords, and don't give me any credit even though it was my idea...
Why does everyone want credit for the littlest stupid things?
lol, ill prolly use scourges
lol, Ever since the waterfall craze I've always wanted to make a lavafall or mudfall or something just to mess with people.
I like the second picture you put up. It has a good sense of depth like a waterfall, however it doesn't seem to work as the center of the terrain, because it's not as dynamic as a waterfall. It's hard to imagine it flowing, too. If it did it would be moving very slowly, which is something you wouldn't be able to map, or the lava is mostly cooled and not moving at all, in which case it is pretty dull.
But I guess that can't be helped. I mean, c'mon. It's molten rock. How amazing can that look?

Well, I think it is incredible.

My suggestion would be to narrow it down and put some sort of cool thing happening on the sides, and it could become a hall of famer.
what sorta kool thing did u have in mind?
I don't want credit, I was being sarcastic...

Even though I'm not good at sarcasm...
Well, I don't think this is a hall of famer, cuz it looks really really plain...
its ashworld what do u expect? ashworld is all grey and dark brown and only has like 3 doodads...
I think it should be a Hall of famer because there is almost NO blockyness and it really does look like a lavafall... Although you could add in some sprites like the crock ledges and such around it for a cooler look...

I was thinking of either rock sticking out of the fall, seperating it halfway down or something.
Or some sort of spike sticking up out of the cliff face. (I'm not sure about this, I just know there are spikes in ashworld)
Or how about some overhang, like this... (Jungle representation, but would probably work in ash world)

This stuff would add flavor to your dull (Although incredible) lavafall.
