Staredit Network -> Concepts -> custimizing your levels

my example is gonig to be a defense map.

i was thinking, wouldnt it be nice if you could custimize your levels in a defense? so instead of the boring ol'e overlords on the first level you could choose from reavers or really weak but fast scourges.

i was thinknig this would be a nice replayability factor.

same with bounds, you could have multiple paths.

same with RPGs, you could have multiple storylines but all ending the same or differently.

in warfare maps you could choose a different way to go, like using diplomacy to buy other people's cities, or bribe them and make them lose face to their people. or you could just go on warring.

i personaly like these kinds of games, ones that dont really have a fixed options.
i really like open quest RPG even though it does get a bit boring and it isnt really that "open", but because you could go on killing or sit around and wait for people to go to inns and collect their money.

too bad there arent much of these games out there, cause most of them even though they seem to have a lot of options, they all are to the same goal, like in Hero Arena, you can choose different guys, and upgrade, and figth at the end of every few minutes, but that is all you do, woudlnt it be nice if you could like, choose a differnt way to battle? doesnt it annoy you when peopel still your kills? maybe a FF style battle.

anywans, this is just a concept, not really true, yet. maybe most other peopel like fixed options.

You forgot to include the poll asking.

Did anyone actually NOT know this already?
  • No, I knew it
  • No, do you think i'm stupid
  • Yes, I'm not very observant, or creative.

Whom was this sposed to help? I also suggest when your making something to be "helpful" that you make it in Word. It just looks nicer, just a thought. Anyways the "custom" levels are nothing new. Its basicly a different way of doing diffulty settings. And if you say well this is different becauses it uses "different" units each time. Well I know I have personally used difficulty setttings where different units spawn in a number of my old maps. Also if this level system was "random" it would be kind of new, but wouldnt work very well. I.E. last level spawns first or something like that.

Yeah ax that's not really new. The bound idea is kinda, but no one really wants to make bounds that much anymore.

Its still nothing new. And all it does it create more triggers which are really not needed.
