Staredit Network -> StarCraft Editing Related -> StarFire Edit

Hi, I'm new to this forum, but not IPB.

Anyway, I recently managed to find StarCraft (I can’t buy it online. Nowhere will ship it to Australia except the Blizzard Store, and that costs $45 USD just for shipping, which works out to $60 AUD or so, plus $16 AUD for Starcraft, $31 for the Battle Chest) but not Brood War, which according to the game shops has gone off of their lists :/

Anyway, I tried to download StarFire Edit, and I did, but then I couldn’t get it to work. So I found warhammer4000’s topic, and the 5th post, and I followed the instructions by changing the name of Patch Data.mpq to Starcraft Mac Patch and moving it to Starcraft Files (I did move my original Starcraft Mac Patch somewhere else, I didn’t replace it tongue.gif ) but it didn’t work.

I’m on MacOS 9.1, and I have no other programs or extra’s (Especially not hack’s) installed. I have StarCraft 1.12, the latest version, and I don’t know what to do.

Could someone possibly take me through, step by step, what you’re meant to do? I’m unimpressed with StarEdit, and I’d like to try StarFire Edit, or anything else for Mac. I tried to get Scmdraft, but I only got links to the PC version.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. If I’m moving the wrong file, or renaming the wrong thing, I’d love to know. If I have the wrong system (It’s only for OS X or something) I’d also love to know.

Thanks.

StarFire Edit is designed for Mac OS X. And if it does work on an earlier version, once you double-click on it it will ask you to find StarEdit and then you're done. I never had to move anything to a different folder, or even rename anything. I just downloaded it, opened it, selected StarEdit, and its worked ever since.

Damn.

Well, is there anything that is for OS 9.1?

I dont know if DW's port will work under os 9 as well as X, I rather doubt it tho (even tho he was getting annoyed at how slow staredit runs under X)

If someone still has Emerald Edit, that worked on 9.1, but I havent seen it in a while. I had it on my old computer but we destroyed that one.

There is something with Emerald in the downloads section, but it says MacOS X.

rabbit, I didn't get any e-mail from you. As for your download,I've tried two StuffIt Expander versions, neither works. Could you recompress it at a .sit, or just redo it?

And do I need Brood War? I don't have it.

[center]Hrmm... Gmail hasn't let me send any Emails with attachments... Weird.
I'd suggest getting BW, it's like $5... I'll fix the DL in a few minutes...
EDIT: Alright, it took a little longer than a few minutes, because my life's been a little weird for the past 2 weeks... Anyway, just fix the .zip extension, and change it to a .sit, then unstuff it, and you should be good. [attachmentid=7776]
