SCOURGEBALL

Objective:
Kill all oponents by throwing the "ball" (scourge) at them, like in dodgeball

Gameplay:
*You control a shuttle filled with 8 units 6 units correspond to 6 locations on the other end
*If you touch an idle ball on your side you pick it up and it follows you
*You are allowed to have 2 balls with you at any time, you wont be able to pick up a third
*Unload a unit from your shuttle to shoot the ball
*There are 2 specialty shots which require you to have two balls at once
*A ball that is shot will go to the location corresponding to the unit you unload
*You can catch an incoming ball by using having it touch your observer that is following your shuttle
*If the ball hits your shuttle you lose a life
*Lose all lives and you are out

Systems Used:
A pretty original idea I believe is the aiming and shot system used and the two specialty shots
In the beginning I also used a blinding system to blind the observers.
I use burrowed lings along the edges to act as a "move to here" if you go to the edges

Possible Glitch:
I know there was this one glitch in earlier version and I don't know if it still occurs. Sometimes you can pick up a third ball, but I don't remember the reason. Had something to do with catching and the triggers. If you see it happen save a rep or describe the situation.

History
This is an old map I worked on a few months old, started back at the beginning of the winter map making contest. If anyone would play it and give some feedback it would be helpful. I haven't tested it in a while and I think there are a few bugs.

Back when I was still editing this, I had unfinished tips/hints triggers that I need to fix and complete, with hints that appear at different times during the game, such as if you hold a ball for a minute without shooting it would display a msg reminding you of how to shoot and so on.

I was also thinking of adding different gameplay options, but I got lazy with that and it was around the time I stopped working in it. I'll continue working if I get some feedback. Since I have nothing else to do wink.gif

Um... try a tad bigger arena and one more ball. It looks a little small (I have not tried it yet, will tonight)

Adding an extra ball would be a little tedious and I'm not sure if its necessary. I'll need more opinions.

Sorry lesk,
I didn't see it at first, I was skimming the top, many apologies.

This is actually pretty fun.
Needs some improving.
But, most maps do anyways, I would like to play it with a full house, it would seem chaotic, smile.gif , IF, yall are all on the same arena.

Unless,
You split them up sad.gif, but anyways.

As for other game type modes,
Could have "Prison" where when you get tag, you obviously go behind the enemy's base, and you can A) Get everyone out or.. B) Make a daring attempt to get over there and hit the switch to open the prison doors, but... You would prolly have to restructure the map for that, or have another area to play in. Anyways.

It's actually as exciting as dodgeball if two skill players go at it. The aiming, the dodging. Four balls make this game a challange even when you don't have one.

I just think the edges and the ball picking up from the wall can be improved happy.gif

They help visually aim, so people can match up the units in the shuttle with those outside.

not bad, combining basketball and dodgeball at the same time! you know what'd be nice? add a bouncing system, so it bounces around lol.

I couldn't really do this in this particular map, but this gives me an idea for a future map where I can combine this and many other different ideas with bouncing I have.
