I love Stargate so much, and when I saw the Protoss Warp Gate, I said, "Hey, that looks just like a Stargate!" So I started the work on a brand-spankin' new Stargate SG-1 RPG. The 4 human players will all be ghosts because there are so many ghost heroes. Here's the breakdown:

Samantha Carter - Sara Kerrigan
Daniel Jackson - Alexei Stukov
Jack O'Neill - Terran Ghost
Teal'c - Infested Duran

I figure that Teal'c is a good use of Infested Duran, because both characters have dark skin AND Teal'c happens to be a Jaffa Warrior with a Goa'uld symbiote, granting him very rapid healing powers. He will be the strongest character because of this. All HP and damage will be the same, at least for now. Characters will gain minerals and gas based on Kills and Razings score, which will be used to upgrade Infantry Armor and Infantry Weapons. Jaffa are currently Zerg Hydralisks, with no plans for change. Tassadar will play Anubis, because of his magical powers, while Protoss Zealots will form the ranks of Serpent Guards of Apophis. Fenixes as a Zealots will be Kull Warriors, or Anubis' super soldiers. Most of the Protoss buildings will form the infrastructure of Goa'uld planets. I have a Stargate system using up to 8 warp gates, complete with an Iris, the "Kawoosh" that occurs when Stargates open, and sounds taken from the TV show.

Whew. With that all said, what is left is:

*A storyline somehow involving 7 planets other than Earth, each with their own game-critical missions. Includes Apohis and ultimately Anubis as bosses.
*Balance. More enemy units, balanced damage and upgrades, etc.
*Terrain - preferrably done by NOT ME. 7 alien worlds + cities and native people.
*INSPIRATION!

So, is anyone up to this? Wanna team up and create an awesome gem of Starcraft RPG-ing?

Don't screw it up like all the other maps did.

Screw up what? The Stargate story line? Because I intend to do just that. The storyline will be entirely original (I hope) and will not really be connected with the TV plot. Maybe like exploring a possible setting the Stargate universe.

I don't mean the story. What I mean is people make a dialer system with 4 values and you go to a planet and kill like 10 guys then it send you back to earth and you repeat this.

Maybe on planets you could do task for People of planet, like say one planet water been posioned and you have to cure people as well of cleaning the water. This just example Unless Apophis military is invading planet from a flagship and you have to defend planet for X mins while other SG Teams get citizen out of planet via gate. =/

map sounds fun good luck.

Use a large map, with maybe two different "worlds" to visit, and base all events on a singel area of each map, and maybe once they've completed and gone home, you can re-create the area with buildings nad units for another quest.

Shadow,
He said that he was haveing missions and stuff on each world... That means naturaly they will be worlds not just an arena fight map

I think this map would be really cool, Note of advice: Use the OSF file thingy
because this map will need sounds and it will have alot of triggers thus makeing
the file HUGE

I AM using a 256x256 map. And it will be divided up into 8 substantial sections. The dialing system is simple to avoid confusion; all one must do it take a unit to the "Dial Gate" powerup near any Stargate. A Terran Civilian (S.G.C. Officer) is then created in a small area containing 8 (IIRC) Terran Beacons, each with a resource powerup with the names of the planets. You pick it and the gate dials. I am having some conflicts with timing and have recently made the "Kawoosh" sound play only once when any gate is dialed, rather than playing it independently for each gate (prevents the sound being played twice on top of each other). I guess if I want help, I should be posting in the help wanted board, huh?

I have the ideas to create maps, and I like working out trigger mechanics, but I'm really not good at finishing. This project was started in early 2004 and I only got the ingenious gate system running earlier this year. And now I don't know what to do with it. But I want to make this like Daegor's RPG - something that you can play for maybe an hour or more, and play over and over again.

One thing that DOES stretch out the time is that you MUST go back to Earth to heal. If I actually make the comps use the Stargate (through ordering triggers), then possibly SG-1 may recieve backup from a military team that has a medic with them...

Good ideas, folks. And keep them coming!

The tileset is badlands because of the buildings/pavement, which make a perfect setting for the SGC.

Going back earth all time to heal can be somewhat annoying, maybe you should let them carry items. Can even set maximum of items, like max is 6, including ammo | medical gear | amoung other stuff. Also you could add sub-quest for planets like, one planet has Tables in ancient text only daniel jackson can collect them. But sure you'll have this all worked out so ya. Also Teal'c didnt use our normal weapons, but he is suited to be infested duran, even so he didnt really use earth weapons. Could also add grenades with splahs effect dmgs all in area. On one planets you could have big war between rebels and Apophis forces, SG gets caught in middle crossfire coming though gate. uh, just some ideas i guess. Map sounds great so far.

Amazing! More people who watch Stargate? I though we were in the minority...

Medipacks sounds like a good idea. Since running out of ammo isn't really ever a problem in the show, I don't wanna destroy my upgrade system and put in an ammo system. And I also do not fell that switching weapons is a good use of an item system. I guess that ancient tablets could give Stargate addresses that would allow acces to other planets...
