Staredit Network -> UMS Showcase -> X-tra Edit 2.6
Report, edit, etc...Posted by EzDay281 on 2004-02-21 at 21:10:46
I tried opening a map, and after many tries it worked(without any problems).
Now though, 2.6 is glitching up like friggin' hell. It's switching itself to bold, lower resolution text sometimes, if I try to open using the taskbar icon at the bottom right of my screen it says that it performed an illegal operation when it finishes loading, when I try to save as .chk is saves as Map name instead of map name.chk, the mini-map view box at the top left will leave white lines wherever I move it, it uses the wrong characters in some places like instead of arrows it has 5 and 6, though cut off partially due to lack of space, I can't save maps as... please note that all the problems seem to occur randomly, but there's always atleast one of them occuring when I open it.
It's getting extremely frustrating. How do I fix this?ranting.gif pinch.gif
EDIT:
And I'm sure I forgot some. Here are 2 more problems: New one, when I open the trigger window, then it'll show the wrong groups(forces, players) at the top where you select it, and I have to click and drag to see which one is force so and so 'cause scrolling won't change it, graphicaly. ALSO, when I try to modify a trigger, a big purple spot(I chose purple for my 3-d buttons and borders colors under properties, appearance) and then dissappear after a second.
EDIT again:
Okay, it's not a problem with SCXE. IT's a problem with SE! If anyone wants the map that caused this problem, I can give it to you through e-mail. But I'd advise you not try to open it obviously lol. Something is SERIOUSLY wrong with that map, because it totally effed up my SE, and thus SCXE. Though, if anyone would like to see the map and try to find out what's wrong with it, be my guest. How I know it's SE, not SCXE:
SE is messed up too.
I reinstalled SCXE, and it didn't do crap.

Did you do any edits to your map using other programs?

btw: a mistake they made is they switched the decriptions for scout and shuttle speed upgrades. They labeled the scout speed upgrade for dropship and viceversa, thought I would like the point this out.

It was my friend's map, and by the looks of it he used nothing but classic SE.
As for what Revelade said... that was kind of outa place...

Well, your thread title said Glitchiness, which means a a malfunction, OR a mishap, so I thought this other problem would be related to this thread topic.

I would say that SCXE is the choice until SCMdraft or Starforge is capable of making unbuggy maps on their own, but with the new version of SCMdraft, I'll have to see.

EDIT: Theres only one thing its missing to independantly make maps. Trigger editor. I'm sure suicide is on that wink.gif

scmdraft shouldn't bug anything up, it just dosn't have triggers, which will be released soon, DW and I are working on perfecting the interface for his plugin and optimizing the trigger saving code.

The editor seems perfect now though. I'll do terraining in SCMdraft for now, and trigs in SCXE.

Before I wasn't able to because of some funky error, but seems great now.

YAY.
Today, my SE started working again!
I doubt that the problem with my SE was my computer, because it stopped today when my computer got worse, and my friend was having SE problems too. But suddenly, SE is working again, so...
Forget about this thread.
But I'd prefer it not be closed.

I'm looking at the map in X-Tra 2.5 (Special Mode) and none of the stuff you described is happening. :/ Everything is working normally, no glitchies. The map seems safe to me.

Odd.
Well, as I stated, the problem is gone now anyway.
So it doesn't matter.
But I'm still not going to open the map lol.
EDIT:
SE is working, but SCXE isn't...
EDIT again...:
Oh, so neither of them work. But SE worked for a little while, atleast O.O
