The following ideas should really be developed:

Level 0.5 Protection
How about a protection, that opens a map like any other map, but you can't save (ie: the save button doesn't appear, shows a error message). This way, a person can view a map and know how some triggers or concepts work out. Even better if the map maker includes a tutorial in the comments on what he did while using this protection method. This idea was originated on Blizzforums, and that was like 2 years ago. No one has been working on it since to my knowledge, but it's a great idea. If someone wants to classify their map completely, they could use Proedit.

Starcraft DL Pumper
I've always hated when someone created a interesting sounding map and you don't get to download it because you get kicked or banned before you do. Making the map downloads faster would be much cooler. Plus somehow making it possible to resume download from the host even when the game started. I doubt this is possible, but if it is, why not develop it?

Starcraft Winamp Player
I know you can already play winamp music, but it's not a user-friendly way. For the masses, there should be a seperate program in Starcraft Winamp player.

Enchanced Replay
How about when a replay doesn't screw up and show something else when you play it too fast. Probably not possible either.

Sound Protection
There should be a way to encrypt or protect sounds in a map since it can easily be extracted. It may seem like there is no harm in sharing sounds, but some people make their own sounds or some were really hard to get (some may cost money). I want to put some sounds that were very hard to get, but were very useful, and I'm afraid of putting it in a map.

Most are probably unrealistic, but just some ideas

ADDITION:
oh yeah, and how about a program where it lets you join a certain channel at the start (like how its done in bots)

I've heard the 'Level 0.5 Protection Idea Before', but from what I've heard from other people, there might be ways to bypass it and exploit therefore becoming an unprotector.

For the sound, I don't think there is a way to prevent someone from extracting a wayv directly from a map. And I don't get the concept of how it can be 'protected'. Like, how does it prevent it from being played when it is extracted?

Level 0.5 Protection
Blizzard did this to LT but once you delete the (listfile) it works again.

Starcraft DL Pumper
The way SC downloads files is 1:1. One uploader for every one downloader.

Starcraft Winamp Player
Turn on Global Hotkeys in the Winamp newest version in the Preferences...

Enchanced Replay
This was fixed in v1.12 (I'm pretty sure).

Sound Protection
üBeR@TiOn offers a small bit of a mpq scrambler (you can't see what's in the mpq) but if someone really wanted the sounds, they could get it.

I'm pretty sure they have a hack for this ermm.gif

I don't think that protection is a very good idea. Its basically like an unprotected map, because a map stealer can just copy the triggers he sees.

Not really. If someone was really that desperate, they would also have to copy the locations, the terrain, and etc. Unless the map had very few triggers, I doubt someone would be that desperate

I really find no point to protect sounds unless you made them yourself because most of the time you don't. You get it off somewhere and hope that no one takes it but you did not make it in the first place.

More EDITORS for MAC! Come on people! Aren't there any overzealous Mac addicts that are willing to program for Mac? We got StarFire Edit, which has NO grid snapping on regular units, displays the bottom half of turrets and some doodads, and has poorly organized unit brushes. I DO thank the makers of SCMDraft for at least telling us that they plan on releasing a Mac OS X version.

Or if someone had to get permission to use sounds. Such as: If person A gets permission to use a sound from person B, what if person C just steals the sound without permission by extracting from the map?

Well its not nessecary, but just a idea I guess

ADDITION:
Oh yea, and mac editors as well. Although I don't have a mac, it seems as though people are ignoring the macinstosh starcraft community. I'm glad SCMDraft is releasing a mac version

Yeah thats what I mean too. Not having to ask for permission, making your own. Just a click and you get the sound. That should not have protection for.

The problem is many of the programmers don't know how to make it into a Mac program or don't even own a Mac.

And even if someone could, they would have to have some sort of reputation before we gave away our source code.

Nope... replays are still broken... especially most all UMS ones, and Team Melees... which sucks cuz team melees would make the BEST replays if they worked cry.gif .

Actually, a Mini Mac is a pretty good investment. They are relatively cheap and would make an excellent platform for developing and testing. I wish I had the money for one sad.gif .

Tutorial Editor Could be basicly an Editor with 3 lvl -Beginner, -Average, -Advanced, which could show you "how to make things" With triggers or advanced tricks. Make you do specific triggers for a trick and explain you how to do with but with an Editor interface.

That could be awesome for beginner wink.gif

Protecting sounds shouldn't be allowed at all. If you worked hard to get a certain sound, then be nice and not some stuck up asshole... uhm.... bad person..... and keep it all to yourself. And if you made it, then why put it into a publicly played map? Also, if you had to pay for the sound, then it's illegal for you to put it into a map anyways. So, quit whining about sound protection people, and be nice, and go ahead and fracture a few laws if you really wanna use the sound.

That's like saying, if you don't someone editing your map, why make it public? And being "nice" is the same as regular map protection, ask map protectors to be nice as well.

And please refrain from name calling.
